I just got TWC with the SURFboard modem and have a Linksys BEFSR41 router. I hooked up the router so I can connect the other computer and tried using the network setup wizard but I couldn't connect to the internet.
It works without the router and with the router I can connect to the router but not the internet. I have tried searching on google but I am having trouble finding a good site.
Can anyone instruct me how to do this, I realize it's probably easy... I have just never done it before. 6/21/2006 6:46:30 PM |

does TWC require you to clone the MAC address of the PC to the router?
Try this as a suggestion... I don't know anything about your router, but since you said you can connect to it, I'll assume you can find an option there to where you can set the MAC (physical) address of the Internet (WAN) port. You'll want to use the MAC address of the computer you know the Internet works on. To get it, do this:
1) Click on Start, Run, type in 'cmd' (without ') and click OK. A command prompt will open up. 2) Type: ipconfig /all 3) Look for the physical address, it should be 12 letters/numbers separated by --'s 4) Enter that into your router configuration and restart the router.] 6/21/2006 7:58:30 PM |

TWC might only give you 1 ip address. And in this case its locked to whatever device you first plugged into the modem.
So what happened is you probably plugged in your comp directly and it got an ip. Then you put in the router.
Easiest thing to do is just power off both the router and modem.
power the modem back on, wait for it to go thru its blinky cycle
then power on the router.
This should make twc give you a new ip address. And this time it will go to the router. 6/21/2006 8:07:12 PM |
