What I'm trying to do right now is get some front USB + audio ports on my computer. I looked at a bunch of products, and most of them require either external hookup to ports in the back (yuck) or internal motherboard adapters. I have a Dell PowerEdge SC400 MB ... adapaters are non-standard and/or non-existant.
I have a KVM which will work well enough for the audio. Now I'm looking to get a front USB solution on my main box. I've spotted this so far: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815104221 , which looks like it will work well. My grudge is I REALLY would rather pay about half of what this costs.
Anybody know of something similar that will work? (Needs to have the PCI-card + fit into 5.25 slot. Black color preferred.) 6/24/2006 10:25:05 AM |

take a card, aprox 15 shipped http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815166001 has 2 ports and 1 internal header, or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815165001 4 ports, 1 internal standard usb port
Add either a front multifunctionpanel,($12) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815123004 or a cardreader with one built in($17) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820300608 or a front output usb hub that mounts in a drive bay.(28 shipped) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815150025 or a all in one kit, in black, that is 35 shipped vrs 46 on the one you linked to, plus is also sold by tigerdirect so you might be able to score one without paying shipping., aka 30 for everything. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815123004
Best bet is the lower priced combo port system, preferbaly bought locally. 6/25/2006 12:24:00 AM |
