Looking for recomendations for:

1. External USB dvd burner (one that uses multiple USB ports for power so there's no AC adapter would be a nice option, but not needed)

2. Portable USB Harddrives (50-150 bucks), must be small and light and preferably not need an AC adapter.

3. Desktop style USB external harddrives (80-300 bucks, various sizes.) I'm looking for a wide range of these and cost/GB is a big priority.

4. Desktop Firewire 800 external harddrives. Whatever ones you guys think are the best.

5. USB flash drives (NOT with u3 technology as the u3 software doesn't work on lab computers and people flip and think they're defective.) 128 mb to 4 gb. I know other threads cover this already, but alot of them are oldish and recomended stuff we can't use.

BTTT, come on guys, what do you want us to carry at the bookstore. We will be carrying a drive+enclosure kit for pretty cheap if we can get good enough pricing on it, but what do you guys think about the pre-packaged external drives? Which ones do you like.

I'm in the market for an enclosure that supports usb and firewire and has a fan and is externally powered. I don't really care for the prepackaged external drives because I can't verify what drive is inside and whether or not it's refurbished. I can also usually get a better deal buying them seperate. nobody really wants to pay the premium for a usb dvd burner. again I would try to find an enclosure. dvd burners can be had for $25, but the cheapest external dvd burner I've seen was $100

Well we'll probably carry more enclosures than drives, but we can get some instant or mail-in rebates set up from our distributor for certain drive+enclosure combos that SHOULD make them comparable if not better than deals I've seen on tigerdirect even.
