So I am a transfer student and I got a letter saying that orientation is mandatory. WHat if you don't go? Also , what if you skip out early?

This sounds like the lamest thing ever!

You probably won't be able to sign up for classes, etc. I agree that most of orientation is pointless and lame.

go, sign in, and show up again for the afternoon part with your specific college. the rest of it is useless.

You're a transfer student, so your orientation and registration is last, so it's not like you're going to get classes you can really use this semester anyways...but you might as well show up at orientation to register and at least try.

^that's not true...transfer orientation sessions are mixed in between freshman orientation sessions so while yes, the picking of classes are very slim, you'll still have more options open than some of the freshman who attend orientation after you. However, if you do not go to your orientation, you won't be able to register until right before the beginning of the semester. Orientation really won't be too bad, especially since it's only a 1 day thing for transfers.

^ I transfered into NCSU and actually attended that nonsense.

I still remember thus guy sayin "you haven't done college until you've done NC State"

what a joke, I mean NCSU is not that slack, but it's not like this place is IVY league compared to the community colleges. I'm just glad they made it law for certain courses to transfer, otherwise I bet I'd lost alot more credits when I transfered. As it was I lost about a year's worth. No regrets though.

orientations are a complete waste of time in my experience, except that as you are ducking out of the proceedings you can make friends with like-minded folks. It's how I met all my friends at my last school come to think of it.

yea orientation is pretty stupid but u do get to meet a lot of people and become friends with them b4 school actually starts. that way in the fall, u already know a few people since meetin them at orientation. if i remember, i actually got my student ID at orientation which was definitely important. i dunno if they've changed that or if that's still the same. however, that was 1 less thing to deal with in august.

Be sure to email your adviser for your pin number so you can register if you don't go.
As a freshman, I came to orientation for about half the day, then left. Signed up for classes for a major that I didn't get accepted for with no problem. (I put down a major that I didn't plan on doing when I applied)
