My parents are getting us a new mattress, but it has to be <$1000. We've been shopping around and would like to see if anyone has any tips.

We just need a mattress and will be getting a platform bed to put it on. We need a King sized one. So far, we really liked

Sealy Posterpedic "Satisfaction Plush" from the Mattress Firm $951 mattress only + $60 delivery

Orthopedic Ultraplush, Original Mattress Factory, $799 mattress only + $30 delivery

Simmons Beautyrest in Palham Plush at Fred's Bed, $901 mattress only + free delivery

Any experience with any of these mattresses?

Thanks in advance!

Go to one of them discount mattress places and get you a double-sided no-name pillowtop set for 350 dolla. If I had it to do all over again, that's what I would do. They are actually good quality.

There's a place out at I40 and Hwy 42...offa Bratton Drive. Good deals.

when my grandmother was alive, her spare bedroom's mattress was so comfortable. It was so old it took us forever to move it out of the house when she died. It is now at the beach, and still the most comfortable mattress. It has to be about 20ish years old!

i was staying at the holiday inn brownstone on hillsboro st. and my gf and I were drunk. She peed the bed and the manager made me buy the bed for $300 but it was a tempur-pedic so i was like well if i pay for it i am taking it with me. So if you want a tempur-pedic for $300 go there and pee in the bed

there is huge markup on mattreses. you should be able to get a few dollars knocked off those prices even if they are already on sale.

Just because your parents said they'd pay up to $1000 doesn't mean you have to push them to the limit. Get a quality matress for a bargain price and save them some money.

Do not get a sleepnumber / i almost did and i am so thankful i didnt. My aunt has one and says it was the worst mistake she made when buying a new mattress

also, stay away from pillow tops as the pillow top part will wear down and sink some / or in my experience anyways

yea in my new house we needed to fill 2 extra bedrooms, so we went to the discount furniture place down the road and got 1 full, 1 queen, 2 headboards, and the frames for right around 600 bucks.

Have any of yall slept on the memory foam mattresses?

take a look at sears, sometimes they have a good deal. I thought they had better prices than some of the mattress-only stores did. In particular they were better than mattress firm by a few hundered. They delivered our queen-size set and in the process got a tiny smudge on it so they gave us a $60 gift card which I used to get a mp3-flash drive, worked out great.

I have this and have the Sealy Posterpedic that it is similar to at my parents house. I actually like the mattress factory one better and it is a lot cheaper.

Go with the mattress factory.

Oh, and I like pillowtops... I guess I'm the opposite of whoever posted above about them. I think that's the best part to me because it makes it feel plush. But I hate firm mattresses so I don't like our tempurpedic pillows... they don't have a lot of give to them so my neck rests really high. (Same things w/ the mattress.) I'm sure it's "better" for you, but it's just not comfortable to me. That, and I weigh nothing so I don't really make the foam sink like it probably should.
