Of course the movie is biased and one sided, but it is indeed government policy to hold people indefinatly, with no rights, and no access to legal counsel, and no appeal.

This infinate incarceration is unheard of in modern times, and against all international norms.

Of course some will say the system worked. These British citizens, with no ties to Al Qaeda, only spent 2+ years in prison.

It doesn't change the dangerous precedent.

holding people indefinately is not torture...all the rights you just mentioned are american rights...(dont flip out about human rights on me)...those are american rights that are afforded to americans under the american constitution...if you can show me that people at guantanimo are americans then we can talk about those rights...

so what if this infinite incarceration is unheard of...better to hold them than to have them running around cutting peoples heads on and blowing themselves up...and lets talk about the dangerous precedent of letting people go who then might turn around and kill 3000 people...now THAT would be a dangerous precedent

The Iraq civilian death toll is somewhere around 40,000, at the least.

Even if only 1/3 of the dead Iraqis were caused by us, that's still plenty of reason for them to hate us, and that's probably how they see it too. I doubt they sit around looking for excuses to LIKE us.

I dont care if they have a reason to hate us or not...the point is that they do hate us and they are trying to kill us...so screw them....america would be remiss if they did anything short of arrest and try anyone who has any terrorist ties to anyone...

i dont know what happened with these Brits....but thats one case...and there might be others...but i am willing to take the chance of incarcerating innocent people if we can arrest and hold anyone remotely tied to a terrorist....

that line of thinking is nothing new...our justice system gets it wrong sometimes too...sometimes innocent people are put in jail...thats a chance that we are all willing to take..
