I'd say Gavin, Fells, McCauley, and Costner are locks

Yes, he is a lock, but if he weren't a senior, I don't know, but yes, by default

albritton will not play. furgeson will play before albritton does. didn't we get another black player with the 7 foot toothpick?

^i'm guessing you're referring to the Iowa State transfer Degand? he has to sit for a year, but i think he was granted another redshirt year, so he can still have the ability play 4 years for us. i know albritton won't play unless we're blowing a team out in the last few minutes, i just composed a list of all the players at each position, with the ones most likely to start at the top of each category. the * denoted players that can and will play more than one position. Atsur will be the most primary ball handler with Grant, Fells, and Ferguson to follow.

the starting five is still very strong, its the lack of depth after losing davis & werner that concerns me.

This would have been a good season to have Herb since he never had any clue how to utilize depth anyway.

The day Albritton plays more than mop-up "We're up/down by 30" time is the day I give up on NC State sports

How is McCauley a lock to start?

Id say:

C) Brackman
PF) Costner (Melvin clone)
SF) Grant
SG) Fells
PG) Atsur

Then Ben, Horner, and Ferguson are the only subs who play any this year.

I want to see fells and grant run the best circles man could ever run at the wings. That strategy is unguardable.

^If that is the case, yes Ben starts.

Andrew said he is coming back.

Ben will still play a lot and I really like him as a player.

I heard on 850 the buzz the other day that Degand is appealing the NCAA to let him play this year. He is saying that he left Iowa State when it was a program that was believed to be facing NCAA sanctions and apparently there is a rule that lets you not miss a year if that is the case. The guy on the radio said it was prob. a long shot but you never know.

5-Brackman
4-Costner
3/2-Grant
2/3-Fells
1-Atsur

McCauley first off the bench followed by Horner, 7'2", and Ferguson once he's eligible.

Our top 6 will be very competitive, but after that, I'm not real sure... we are really going to need Horner and Ferguson to be ready to play.

Fells is going to be a flat out stud in this new offense.

We need a speedy little negro to run the point in order to utilize the athleticism we have on the wings. It would be nice to see a fast break or 2 this year.

But yeah, we could surprise some people.

^^^^based on hype alone, I'll tell you that he's better than Melvin at this stage. I'm considering Melvin after his first 4 games as well....Costner is better right now.

I just hope grant has learned how to not commit an offensive foul every time he touches the ball

and that brackman has learned how to take the ball strong to the hole more than once a game

and that fells can do more than run really fast and jump really high

what is with everyone saying Brackman's probably not going to play next year. have they not read or at least heard that he has every intention of playing next year. geez do i need to bring in the story on the Lowe's press conference on him officially starting the job.

http://gopack.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/061506aaa.html

Quote :
"With Simmons moving on, Andrew Brackman's status becomes even that much more important. A rising junior, Brackman would be the top candidate to become NC State's man in the middle next season assuming he gets himself healthy and stays committed to playing basketball.

Also a pitcher on the Wolfpack baseball team, Brackman had his baseball season cut short by a hip injury this spring. From all indications, he plans to play both sports again next season.

"I love his enthusiasm," Lowe said. "He's a little down because he wants to work now. Obviously, he can't do that. From all accounts, we're looking forward to him coming back and he's going to play basketball. That's what he said. He's eager to get started as soon as he can get healthy." "

what the hell are you talking about? all I said is I would love to see Brackman playing basketball next year, as we definetely need him. However, I don't think he will play basketball next year.

Sounds like you're another one of our alleged ncsu fans that have no faith in any of our players and points out only the faults.

try all of them, as well as traveling to most of the ncaa and acc tourney games the past 2 years...I never said that Brackman had a good year last year, but I still think he would be an asset on this years team that lacks inside presence....if you honestly think the team would be better without Brackman on it at the very least as another body you are an idiot

I like our top 6. They won't be amazing, but they'll win some games and be fun to watch. I do wish we had a faster guard than Atsur, but we're lucky to have some experience at the point that won't turn the ball over. I know you guys seem to hate on the kid, but he'll be the leader of the team this year and a big part of the offense.

Depth is an obvious problem. The inside game will suffer offensively, but hey, we haven't had a good post option and used it since Powell left. My starters:

Costner, Grant, Atsur, Fells, Brackman. Three have experience starting in the ACC, Fells played limited but valuable minutes, and Costner has a year under him in practice. No starting freshman, which is a plus.

i believe in support all players who have a positive impact on our team.....even if its only marginally positive, ill support said player

but brackman fouled more then he scored. his net impact was negative last year.
