i'd like one of those hondas but their pumps can't handle the power they can make

i have no idea, sounds reasonable though. they have one of the best hulls out there. mine has been radared in the low-mid 70's on freshwater. 7/7/2006 6:40:18 PM |

the Ultra is supposed to be the fastest ski around in stock form, with the exception of the Sea-Doo RXP (which would cost me twice as much, and it's a lot bigger and supposedly far less agile in the handling dept) 7/7/2006 7:07:07 PM |

you're correct, it was the fastest production ski up until a year or two ago i think. 7/7/2006 7:20:58 PM |

well
i test rode it, and it runs smoothly, but it acts like it has some sort of fuel delivery issue. today was the first time it's been ridden since the end of last season. i think the gas is shitty, and the carbs might be gummed up.
i'm gonna try a fresh tank of fuel and 3 new spark plugs...if that doesn't work, i'll either clean/rebuild the carbs or pay a shop to do it (depending on my schedule over the next couple of weeks). i'm pretty confident it's nothing worse than that.
he let the ski, a trailer, and a life jacket go for $3600, so i can put some more money into it and still have a really good deal.
should i slap some aftermarket carbs on there while they're off (or bore the stock ones)? anyone know if there are substantial gains to be had with the carbs on an Ultra? 7/9/2006 12:23:34 AM |

when emissions hit.
btw its not the jet skis but the ignorant parents who let there 12-16 year olds ride them and the rest of the fucking idiots who don't know the rules of the lake.
I've been driving a boat with an adult on-board since i was 10 and know the rules of passing etc. but some people (especially jet skiers) think its a fuckin free for all.
i if anyone have a reason to have beef with them... one of the dumb fucks ran into the side of my friends boat while i was on it.
and another one i unintentionally splashed slalom skiing and so he decided to ride my ass around the lake... if i would have fallen the bastard would have run over me. when he shouldn't have been close enough to splash in the first place. 7/9/2006 10:27:22 AM |

i was camping at Jordan over memorial day. in a span of maybe 200 feet of shore line, I think I counted 30 something. Most of the idiots were guys in their 20's and 30s and none of em obeyed any rules. They would get on and go full out right from the shore. And they liked riding full out iwthing mayve 20 feet of the boat. We reported a couple of em to the Wildlife Officers. 7/9/2006 11:39:55 AM |

btw... its the same way on lake norman with the race car drivers and plane ole rich folk and their bajas, fountains etc. there was a dcb cat running 120 easy in the middle of the day up there with skiers around and everything.... now thats 10 times the ignorance of most jet skiers cause a friggin cat going 120 will take damned near half a mile to come off plane once you come off the power. 7/9/2006 11:52:36 AM |

no, most you'll want to do is a good set of flame/spark arrestors to free some breathing up. then jet them if you ever do any engine, head, or exhaust work. for that particular ski, i would reccomend some impeller, intake grate, and ride plate upgrades before doing much performance work. make sure you match the impeller to any planned power upgrades.7/9/2006 2:42:21 PM |

well when you slap into the side of a 23' supercharged 454 powered stingray cause you think you're pwc is faster and we don't even care to race so you wave at us to provoke us hit a wave and slap into the side of the fucking boat... then i'll laugh... and hate you too once i make sure our hull is ok. 7/9/2006 6:08:35 PM |

well when they are riding full out within inches of a brand new boat, you tend to take action. Besides . . . it was the guy who owns the boat who reported them. Not to mention they were all of 10 ft away from shore in a cove.
Not to mention 2 weeks ago when one about ran into the bow of the sunfish I was on. Too bad I didn't have a radio with me that day.
