so my new place has told me that I won't be able to get cable or internet for anywhere between 2 weeks and 3 months (hah). I am using a wireless card and I pick up about 3 signals that are all very weak. Most of the time they are too weak to reliably surf the web. Do they make transceivers that I place on the window sill, picking up the weak signals stronger than my wireless card (more sensitive), then transmitting from my window sill to my wireless card?

any recommendations for this problem?

couple of options - pick up a repeater or buy a high-gain antenna to replace the one on your card (if you have a PCI card on your desktop, i mean...if talking about laptop, i imagine your only option is the repeater)

i just bought 5 of the linksys repeaters to cover a complex...they have an auto-configure button on the side that automatically picks up the strongest signal and duplicates, amplifies, and repeats the signal...they worked like a charm, but they're a bit pricey at $100 each...might be able to get them on sale/rebate/online cheaper, though
