Your best bet is to just pick up an older video card that supports TV-Out. You should be able to get something like a ATI Radeon 7500 All In Wonder for like 10 bucks or less. That would take care of all your problems. 7/12/2006 4:13:12 PM |

yeah that first post (monitor-->tv) is a bit confusing
but i'm still lost here...you want to use your serial connection as a tv-out? ive never heard of that. normally tv out is located on the video card... 7/12/2006 4:14:28 PM |

Yea, he def means VGA. There are adapters that will take the VGA to RCA but your video card has to be able to support it so it would be a crapshoot for the most part. TV-Out from a cheap video card would be a much easier solution. 7/12/2006 4:29:10 PM |

Google "vga to rca" pulled up a ton of results. Which company you want to purchase from is your call.
If you truly need a "serial cable" with a DB9 or DB25 connector (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_cable), then I'd suggest trying an adapter for the serial cable (Serial to USB is fairly common) and then trying that adapter to RCA. 7/12/2006 9:02:35 PM |

oh i guess vga is the actual connector?
i just saw serial on the computer screen at radioshack
but i dont wanna switch out my nice new video card for some old shit
why would that be a better solution? 7/12/2006 9:09:29 PM |

Most newer (like in the last 5 years) computers can take multiple video cards. Your nice and shiny gaming card you hook up to your monitor is in an AGP slot most likely. Your not powerful second video card is in a PCI slot. This second card can be used for a variety of purposes.
And never trust retail stores ... they don't know crap. Take the time to do your own research and ask intelligent questions. Lucky you haven't gotten flamed yet in this thread. 7/12/2006 9:37:33 PM |

^^ You worded it in a really dumb way. You are pretty lucky you haven't been flamed... we're harsh here in Tech Talk.
What kind of video card do you have though? most new ones have TV-outs of some sort.
They do make VGA->NTSC modulators, but they aren't really worth it for the price of a cheap PCI card with TV-out. 7/14/2006 2:22:34 AM |

^ yes I haven't seen one with great quality yet. Tell us what video card you have. Right click in desktop--> properties--> settings--> advanced--> adapter. It should be listed there. 7/14/2006 6:30:08 AM |
