I thought that their was a thread but couldn't find one.
Did anyone see it last night? I missed most of the first one. Second one was pretty good.
If anyone saw the first story, whats up with the toy soldiers coming to life and trying to kill that guy?

Yeah I caught the second half of it, and it looked really funny.

I loved that part at the end with the elevator doors, haha.

From what I could gather when it cut back to his apartment and showed the box, it seems like it was kind of a Small Soldiers type ordeal. Looked like this guy got some type of box of "special" toys, it said "Suprise" on the box in a couple of spots. So I'm guessing these were prototypes or something that he had gotten a hold of. I really liked the "to scale thermonuclear weapon", haha.

I could be way off on this as I didn't watch any of it, but saw a commercial or whatever for it and I believe I heard somewhere that the guy had killed the toy maker or something like that so they were getting revenge.

^ Yep, he is a gun for hire, and did a hit on the toy maker. The package was delivered to his loft with a note that appeared to be signed by the toy makers, dead?, mother. At least it's what they hinted at with the handwriting of the note.

The second one sucked IMO. The first episode had a lot more mood and humor. Reminded me of good Twilight Zone episodes.

The Small Soldiers episode was awesome. I noticed the lack of any lines too and liked how it tied into his isolation.

I wish I had cable. The book was a fascinating read, at least for when I was ten. I wouldn't watch the thing in hopes of being scared, though. I think he released it right after Carrie, so that's all in his first stages of storymaking, complete with moronic bad guys and eerie supernatural crap that doesn't make sense.

My suggestions for films of King's work:
The Shining (1997)
Stand By Me (The Body)
Pet Sematary
It (the series)
Needful Things
The Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile
Apt Pupil
Hearts in Atlantis (just the first half)

I've either disapproved of or haven't bothered with everything else.

and what about misery?

Quote :
"^

the shining
misery
shawshank
apt pupil
it
salem's lot
stand by me
children of the corn
carrie"

but i can barely remember the book, been too long.

Never got into the book, I got sick when he drank the soapy water and picked up the Gunslinger. Which I remember reading all three parts (that had been released at that time) while munching on leftover Halloween candy.

And yes, I definately think Kubrick did a fine job with The Shining, but I was more satisfied with the recent release. Not nearly as artistic and lacking Nicholson's blessed appearance, to be sure, but it was more accurate, and taking into consideration the accuracy of Shawshank and Green Mile, it's evident how that makes a better movie.

At least the black guy isn't introduced and then dies in the next scene we see him in. There are several instances like that in the first one that have no reason to be there, and detract from the book's storyline.

And fuck yes, WEIRD IS AS WEIRD DOES! That's the SK way.

Ive really only enjoyed the first episode. The middle two episodes were okay but i missed the fourth one. The stories just aren't grabbing me the way I thought they would.

Yea I enjoyed the first one. I also noted there was no spoken words but I Agree that added to the coolness of it. The second one was plain bad. I tried to follow but it was almost like they were leaving too many things out of the story for it to make sence. When it was over I said to myself that I wanted the last 60 minutes of my life back

Speaking of Stephen King, did anyone finish reading the Dark Tower series? I read the first three years ago. I believe that he finally finished the series.

I kept fall asleep during the episode thats just on. I know that guy got revived at the end.

The episode thats on now, I swear I thought it was a repeat of episode 2. I'm glad its not.

Yeah about the Dark Tower thing he did rush the ending

Getting hit by that minivan was the worst thing ever for him and now he's just scrambling to write stuff before he dies

^i disagree

there were one or two stupid things in the last book, but i thought the overall series was great.

i was just disappointed by the last 10 pgs, but he even said in the book to not read the last 10 pages b/c it would be disappointing.

As for N&D, i cant decide if i like or dislike that most of the eps just ended. I think the only one that frustrated me was #2.

The last book was alright but Song of Susannah was terrible. TERRIBLE. Like "god damn what a terrible book" terrible.
