I just want to see how quiet everyone elses DVRs are before I call them. I can't tell if it's the HDD or Power supply - probably both because it buzzes when everything is off, then even louder when watching TV. If I call them will they give me the run-around and say it's "supposed" to do that? Maybe I'll just take it into the High House office and exchange it.... 7/15/2006 12:03:12 PM |

Probably a cooling fan bearing is going. The fan should spin up when the system is in use and that would explain why the sound is louder. 7/15/2006 12:04:54 PM |

Yeah, when the cooling fan eventually fails the system will either just shut off or overheat then die. In either case, it'll probably happen in the middle of the premier of your favorite show. Exchange it on your time so you don't have to be annoyed later.

mhum, I'll be sure to keep it with the World Cup finals recorded until you get a chance to watch it.
For everyone else in this thread, be sure not to mention anything about what happened in the WC finals, the final score, any significant events, etc. 7/15/2006 5:13:00 PM |
