Ok, I'm getting 1 sata drive and I'm going to use my old drive as a slave, do you think that might work on a hdd cable with a single slave setting? 7/16/2006 1:28:10 PM |

yes, you'll need to go into your BIOS settings to tell your computer to boot from the SATA drive before the IDE drive, but running the IDE as a secondary drive either master or slave will work just fine 7/16/2006 1:29:46 PM |

yea i used my IDE HDD as a slave when i got my 1st sata drive. just use the normal IDE cable for the IDE drive then the sata cable for the sata drive. make sure the IDE jumper setting is set for slave. also, when in BIOS, be sure to have it set so that you boot to the sata drive before the IDE drive. 7/16/2006 1:34:00 PM |

seagate = 5 year warranty.
Although I'm not happy with SATA altogether as my cables keep coming out saying boot disk failure. My MB is only SATA-I and the cable slots aren't the locking type. 7/16/2006 3:15:06 PM |
