Assume a minimized diet with exercise. And not so minimized that your body thinks you are starving. I would imagine it'd something like a low carbohydrate diet and would require around 6 weeks or so, easy.

The grapefruit diet (the new one that give you enough calories a day)..has worked for me I've been able to lose weight whenever i want and fast. I like to stay around 118, so when I get bigger than that I just jump on the diet, but at one point after an ankle surgery I weight 139, I got back down to my ideal weight w/in 3 weeks doing that diet.

somone could lose that much in a week but they would have to be extremely overweight and it would be unhealthy.

^^^^New rule: you have to keep all of your limbs, too.

^^^I've read about the grapefruit diet and I don't like it primarily because the food seems worse than a low carbohydrate diet and there is some concern that a lot of it is water weight. Then again, you've actually done it, so that's pretty impressive. Is it hell?

All the diets i've ever done I combine with exercise, this way, its a catalyst for fat burning.

Its actually not hell. You HAVE to eat 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and drink a glass of grapefruit juice in the morning. For lunch, eat a meat and a salad (light dressing)...have as much as you want, drink 8 oz of grapefruit juice. Dinner, is the same way.

You can cook meats however you want, eat any kind of dressing so long as its fat free or light, and eat until you are full.

for a snack you can always have tomato juice or skim milk at night.

It was very easy for me, but then again I love grapefruits. Its worked well, and I felt really energetic (because I was combining it with early morning work outs)

I dropped from 185 to 163. It took me about two months of running at the gym 4-5 times a week. I just counted calories and tried to keep it under 1500 a day.

Well it worked for me, my doctor actually approved the new method as a method of safe weight loss when combined with proper exercise and enough water.

I'm sure it's fine, just seems like a shit load of cholestrol everyday

I doubt there is anything remarkable about the grapefruit other than the fruit part

Actually, its chemical make up speeds up the fat burning process to some degree...

The doctor told me that you can actually ad grapefruit to any diet, and speed up the fat burning process- if you are exercising, he said that grapefruit kind of acts as an ephedrine type substance to the body, it speeds up your metabolism (you can actually feel it in your first few work outs)

I guess what I'm trying to say is, why get on some fancy pants diet you're not going to maintain?

Just eat regularly and work out. Unless you're looking for really high performance workouts, you shouldn't have to change too much about your diet unless you eat like a fucking pig.

You can also eat just plain grapefruit. Its kind of not such a bad taste to get used to if you just want to help speed up the fat burning process, you really don't even need to be on the actual diet.

I lost 15 lbs over the course of the summer (now at 152 lbs).

This came from cutting back my food intake and working out twice a day during the week and once on the weekend (a whopping 11x a week at the gym); cardio in the morning and lifting at night. I guess it's been about 10 weeks.

The grapefruit diet, or any other "eat/drink as much of this and only this" diet is going to fuck up your metabolism and is going to result in you gaining the weight back EXTREMELY fast when you go off the diet.

If you want a quick 15 off, do an hour of cardio a day, cut out all processed sugars, stick to lean meats and whole grains in moderation. And take a supplement to boost your metabolism.

It'll drop off in 3-4 weeks no problem.

i've lost 6 lbs in 7 hours once (water weight). and i've lost 12 lbs in 2 days another time (mostly water weight). the most actual body mass that i've lost in the shortest time was ~7 lbs in a week. that was towards the beginning of one of the wrestling seasons, so it was pretty easy to lose the fat.

well I dunno maybe someone can help me out here. Here's an average day for me

Breakfast: bowl of cereal (lets say corn chex), English Muffin with butter, 2 links of sausage, glass of OJ.

late morning snack: 1-2 lbs of grapes, blueberries, & strawberries

lunch: Ham (close to 1/2lb) lettuce, and cheese sandwich on a roll with mayo and mustard & an apple

Dinner: 2 chicken breasts, a 1/2lb of pasta, and a can of green beans.

Other than my morning OJ I only drink water, except when I go out (2-3 times a week) when I drink beer, and a lot of it

NEWS FLASH CHUBBO - I don't go home and play evercrack and <insert whatever the latest 'it' game is here> with all my D&D buddies when I get off the internship. I go to the gym.

Just because you eat 10,000 calories doesn't mean your body digests that much.

On a related note...If a person starves off 20 lbs of mass (not water), what percentage of that is fat and what percentage is muscle?

This is yo-yo dieting. There is no point in going on a diet to lose some weight, get off of it, gain more, go back on it...its really not healthy either. Especially not for your skin. You need to find a lifestyle change that will fit you in order to have successful weight loss to stay off.

^^ exactly, thats why you should not attempt to lose more than 2 pounds a week.

^^^ there is really no way to know that... when you're dieting or toning you're going to lose some stregth/muscle but you want to keep lifting to keep that to a minimum. Like right now its july and it makes me mad at the gym when i cant lift nearly as much as i could a few months ago but at the same time you dont wanna walk around at the pool with an inch of fat over your abs...

If you're losing more than 2 lbs a week though you are probably losing a considerable amount of muscle. I keep my calorie intake around 2,300 (consider that ~600-1200 of that a day is beer) when I'm toning.

I just load up on proteins because you'll shit out excess and good fats (for energy since i dont consume many carbs besides beer)

for carbs just eat fruits & vegetables you have to cut out all the spaghetti and stuff completely unless you can handle not drinking every night.

that's not exactly true...if you consume more protein than your body needs it'll be stored as fat

okay yeah that is true but i only consume like ~150g of protein a day and never more than 30g within ~2 hours. I didnt mean eat like 700 shrimp at a time...
