I finally got an HDMI cable to connect my TWC HD box to my Samsung DLP, but no signal is recognized. On the Samsung setup menu, it shows you all the inputs that detect a signal, but the HDMI one remains grayed out. I don't see any special place to perhaps activate the HDMI input in the TV, nor a place to activate HDMI output on the TWC box. I've restarted both, pulled the power completely and powered back on with the HDMI plugged in, but still nothing.
Before I start calling people, what are the chances I have 1) a bad HDMI receiver on the TV, 2) bad HDMI output on the box, 3) a bad HDMI cable, or 4) something messed up with the settings somewhere.... 7/21/2006 7:02:18 PM |

I've heard that some of the HDMI ports are disabled on the TWC boxes and there's nothing you can do but get another box. 7/21/2006 7:59:33 PM |

balls..... this is what i have - http://store.shentech.com/hlp5063wx.html looks like the DVI is HDCP enabled, but the HDMI is not. What good is the HDMI port on the TV then? do all modern HD signals/boxes require HDCP support? my DVD player doesn't have HDMI, and the TWC box doesn't have DVI..... so I guess i'll have to stick with DVI for the DVD and Component for the TV....

Basically, at this point if your TV doesn't support HDCP then you're fucked.

You're not missing anything - the quality out of the TWC boxes I've seen so far is absolute crap.
Much better off using DVI for the DVD like you said. 7/22/2006 12:37:19 AM |
