The man is not what I would call a good writer, but he's a decent storyteller. Write alternate history, mostly, which is decidedly nerd territory, but every now and then someone has to have something to read just for entertainment and not literary or educational value.
The series about the South winning the civil war has my attention decidedly held. "The Grapple" just came out today and I'm already halfway through it.
Just curious if anyone else read his shit, and, if so, what they thought about it. 7/26/2006 1:04:13 AM |

Yeah, Turtledove is pretty good. I've read most of his long series. Some are so long that I just gave up - I could never remember what had been going on from the previous books. That one you're reading about the South winning the Civil War has to be around 8-10 books at this point - I think it's all the way up to WW2 at this point!
"Guns of the South" was an excellent stand-alone book as well. 7/27/2006 11:20:18 PM |
