So I currently have to run both the groupwise calender and I want to use Outlook 2003 as my email client. Groupwise starts up at the same time. However if I cancel the groupwise client it closes outlook too. This isn't a big deal as when it fully starts outlook opens too and automtically assumes my ID, I just don't know why they are interconnected and would like to seperate them if possible.
Thanks! 7/31/2006 2:26:38 PM |

I hate you guys... soooo much. Seriously though. I'm not too familiar with Groupwise so wanted to know if it shared some settings that Outlook did that would make them war like this. 7/31/2006 11:16:57 PM |

Well my two options that don't have trouble are Eudora and Thunderbird. I know Eudora won't suit my needs as I like the scheduling function and reminders that also integrate with other programs I have that Outlook has...
But what's the deal with Thunderbird? Any users?

if it weren't for all of the databases that ibm has invested countless hours in - i doubt even they would use notes 8/1/2006 9:29:07 AM |

Thunderbird is what I use. It's a great email client that you can add extensions to just like Firefox. But it doesn't have the alerts and scheduling power of Outlook. Lightning should take care of that but I have not used Lightning. 8/1/2006 9:38:00 AM |

One of the positives of using Lotus Notes for your calendar is that it will automatically delete or re-schedual your meetings without even having to ask! 8/1/2006 9:56:16 AM |

i use thunderbird for all my personal email, and outlook for business.
The only big drawback to thunderbird is it's a one way conversion. You can easily bring all your email over from Outlook/OE, but if you ever decide you want to go back, it's a ROYAL pain in the ass. 8/1/2006 10:59:41 AM |

IBM USED TO make everyone use the SmartSuite, but then they realized none of their customers could open anything and had to go MS
I love Notes though, much better than Outlook or any other client I've ever used. Then again, I also love Siebel. 8/1/2006 2:14:58 PM |
