Would You Like an Upgrade?.....

Rhetorical question. Of course everyone wants a damn upgrade.

When I say upgrade & downgrade I am mostly referring to significant others, but this can apply to friends as well. I mean, when a relationship of some sort (romantic, friendship or otherwise) ends and a new one begins-- it should be better right? I mean why would a good thing end so you could move on to something worse? Well I have news for you people. You may WANT to upgrade with all your might and you might indeed think you're getting an upgrade and what you end up with is a severe downgrade. Let's go deeper.

An example of an upgrade would be: Bob & Jane are dating. Bob treats Jane like shit. He doesn't listen to her, he's a dick most of the time and he's jealous of everything. Jane isn't perfect either but there they are. Joe catches Jane's eye & seems to have the ability to put Jane into a better situation than her current state with Bob. Jane dumps Bob for Joe and life goes on. That is an upgrade.

Upgrades can also refer to the level of attractiveness. Although, I strongly caution against anyone making an upgrade based soley on looks. I have news for you people. Pretty fades and stupid and shallow go straight to the bone.

Before you make any decisions toward an upgrade I recommend doing a cost benefit analysis of the situation. Think long and hard about what you're going to do. If you make a decision thinking you're getting an upgrade and you end up with a downgrade-- your life will suck and everyone will know it.

Now let us discuss this downgrade business. I mean, I cannot imagine anyone doing this on purpose so for the sake of this entry, lets classify all downgrades as mistakes. (If you make a downgrade on purpose, you're a fucking idiot and we would all appreciate it if you kept your fucked up self locked into a room, k thx.)

The accidental downgrade goes something like this: Bob and Jane are dating. They have a pretty good relationship and no major issues or problems. Both are seemingly happy with each other & the relationship. Bob meets a girl, say at work & in an idiotic state, dumps is perfectly good girlfriend, Jane for random girl at work, Midge. Bob is thinking that Midge is awesome and Jane is crap compared to her. But Bob has made an accidental downgrade because Midge turns out to be fine and everything, but nothing really compared to Jane. Bob done fucked up and he knows it. But what is Bob to do? Nothing really. He is stuck with a downgrade and has to work twice as hard to upgrade back up to Jane's level.

As you can see, the accidental downgrade can impact your game harshly. If you are about to make an upgrade (or what you THINK is an upgrade), I urge you to do so with great caution. Of course people make successful upgrades everyday but there are always those people who jump the gun and fuck their shit up. I'm here to warn you, check yourself before you wreck yourself
