It seems as if every day for the last week there's another Windows Update that my computer wants to install. Has anybody else had this happen? While it's nice that they're trying to update software, this is a bit much. I'm trying to figure out whether it's getting spoofed or something. For the record, I have the option where the updates are automatically downloaded, but I have to manually install them. Thanks! 8/15/2006 3:48:12 PM |

the updates are legit - there have just been a lot of recent updates - if you want it to bother you less have it install them automatically too or turn it off

Spoofing automatic updates is not impossible, but not going to happen unless you have a formula for time-travel on your computer (or something similar). Takes a few too many resources on whatever network you are on to pull it off.
Tom, look up information on the Microsoft security bulletins here: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/update/bulletins/default.mspx. This should tell you how many updates per month you have, what they are, etc. 8/15/2006 4:53:59 PM |
