Do you ever go back to your HS to actually watch football? I used to go back to my HS to see old friends but for the last couple of years, I've actually enjoyed watching the team play....especially since they're alot better than when I went there.

Yeah I do. It is fun to go out there on a friday night and watch a good game of football and see lots of old friends and stuff.
And it helps that my HS was/still is good at football.

the first couple of years in college i would go check out both football/basektball whenever i was in town. Our high school always has a really good team, they usually blow out everyone, so we ended up leaving way before the game was over with. Now i dont really go see them, but i read about them and try to keep up with them as much as possible

I live too far away from my hometown to go to games at my old high school

but the local team where I live now has won the state title in the highest class ranking the last two years so I'll go to their games.

West Charlotte representing.

Although the coach is now at Independence and WC isn't near as good any more. But those we're actually very exciting games. At one time some magazine had WC at the #4 high school team in the country.

my sophmore year in HS, West Charlotte beat my school Harding by a score of like 82-0. they won the football game, while we won the battle between the two bands. i think some shots were fired or someone got stabbed at that game. also i saw some guy in an ambulance at the end of the game that had gotten knocked out cold by someone with brass knuckles.

[Edited on August 16, 2006 at 6:18 PM. Reason : that was in the year 2000 i believe]

High school football is for freshmen pussies who still can't believe they are in college.

Real men watch college or pro football.

i've never went back to watch my high school team, or band. i did go back a few times to visit some of my favorite teachers that had a good impact on me during my high school years. in fact going back to visit the school got me laid once. during my freshman year in college, i went back during our spring break, and this girl that i was really good friends with who was a year under me skipped class to go with me to get some lunch. well she decided to just not worry about returning and asked me to take her back to her house. the rest is hookup history.

My school is usually mediocre, made a miracle playoff run to the state semi's or somethin like that last year. Our claim to fame these days is Omar Gaither...played at Myers Park (my HS), then went and played linebacker at Tennessee, was 2nd-team All-SEC and a great special teamer, and now he's a rookie for the Eagles. Smart guy too, was in my classes (IB).

my high school set two state records last year.

Fewest points scored in a season, and fewest first downs (going 3 games without a first down at one point)

And yes we did lose every game.

But I still go sometimes.

yeah, I hate it when I go back to my hometown and its the same guy "That Guy" hanging out at the same gas station, talking to the same ugly girls, about the same HS drama shit that happened 6 years ago, talking about "ifs" and complaining about the world as he knows it.

Then you have the little punk wannabe gangstas who are still in HS and try to terrorize everybody at the game with their FUBU attire but only end up getting knocked down/out by a drunk redneck who graduated 10 years ago.

My hs lost to chris leak and co. by only 3 pts. in the 4A championship my sophomore year. I consider that quite a feat consider the blowouts they handed everyone else during that undefeated run of theirs

Thomasville-Lexington games ALWAYS draw a huge crowd..I remember one year when i was in high school the game was held in Lexington and I wanted to go so bad, but I wasnt able to. It ended up being one of the biggest riots of all time between the two schools..it was all over the news, people fighting, getting shot, stabbed...EVERYTHING..it was pretty crazy.

Yeah, Garner Representing!! '99 Runners Up ( lost to richmond county ) What a great year to take a cameo on the football team!

Garner vs SE Raleigh is normally a good game... also, Garner vs Millbrook has pretty good history. Just make sure you wear a bulletproof vest if venturing out to SE Raleigh for that game

haha, yeah I remember that game. I was in the eighth grade in Lexington. The riot happened behind our section. It started in the stadium and ended up down the street at the BP. I remember a player running up the bleachers toward the riot because he thought his brother was involved and he went in swinging his helmet. Coaches were following him, it was crazy.

My High School won the Virginia State Title last year (Oakton High School)...but no I still wouldn't go back.

BTW, I did watch the championship game on TV...They were playing Landstown (from Va Beach) who had Rashad Phillips (now a freshman TE/DE for NCSU) and a few others that I wanted to watch (Percy Harvin - WR Florida, Damon McDaniel - WR Florida...and Oakton had Keith Payne - RB UVA)

Landstown was a huge favorite but Oakton killed them.

My jr. year of football in New Mexico we had a home and away preseason scrimmage series with Odessa Permian Panthers (aka Friday Night Lights) Their best player was some senior wide reciever named Roy Williams. Our teams mixed for the prescrimmage warmups so as a 18th string scrub WR I ended up practicing with a future 1st round draft pick (Detroit Lions)

I dont go to HS games anymore either...

back 2 back state champs though, 2nd longest win streak behind Independence in NC.

that will prolly end this year tho

I graduated from J.H. Rose and I just wait for Rose to make it to State Championships, so I can either see them in Carter Finley's stadium or UNC's stadium. But, im impressed with teh teams they've had since '98.....I think Amato and company needs to keep recruiting from Greenville Rose...and finiding MORE Andre Browns!

This Friday's biggest game locally is Harnett Central at Fuquay-Varina. It will be worth the 25 minute drive from campus to see HC's star quarterback Rodney Cox, who is considering NCSU.

Two big games tonight in Wake County...

Harnett Central at Fuquay-Varina 7:30

East Wake at Wake Forest - Rolesville 7:00

Both of these are about a 25-minute drive from campus.

Haven't been to a high school football game since I graduated. Glad to see that the Trojans are doin well, though.

Aha, when I used to live over in El Paso, it was crazy how good the Odessa/Midland teams were. I remember a playoff game where we were up against the Midland Lee Rebels, ranked #2 nationally. Had a star running back by the name of Cedric Benson. Yeah, lost by 30. Good times though.
