I'm just wondering... thinking of buying a place in downtown charlotte but should only spend about 250k on it

I'd say at least 900 sq ft.

I lived in a 650 sq ft place with my ex and it was way too small. Of course it was an older house, so the rooms were all average size, but the bathrooms, closets, and kitchen were all miniscule.

agreed. anything in the 6-700 range is alright, but not somewhere id want to live for a long time (though it isnt bad if you are single and dont have ppl over often).

Size isn't an issue so much as layout is. Make sure you can comfortably live in whatever place you end up getting. Sounds like common sense, but if you like to cook, make sure the kitchen is slightly larger. If you like entertainment, make sure you have enough wall space to setup your tv/systems. Etc.

Btw, why the purchase in uptown Charlotte? Don't want to commute? There are a ton of places within 15-20 minutes of uptown for 1/4 of the price you listed.

B/c its a cool place for a young person to live, whereas the suburbs, to some at least, aren't.

my house is within 15-20 min of up town but my job forces me to work typical hours so its more like 45-60 min with traffic and i'm fucking sick of it.


+ uptown reality is going up like a champ something like 20% per year

make sure the square footage isn't wasted though. we went from a 2 bd/2 bath 1150 sqft to a 2 bd/1 bath like 900 sq ft and it feels almost bigger because there is no space wasted on hallways and oddly shaped rooms.
