So I re-filled an old ink cartridge today. I have a canon s520. I got the black cartridge re filled and the color ones are still full. I go to print something today and all that shows up are the hyperlinks. I ran cleaning and nozzle test and some black shows up. what to do? 8/23/2006 11:19:52 PM |

buy a $69 laser printer and use it instead. Color printing is so 1995.
Or... get a $250 color laser printer and never have to deal with ink drying up or clogging again...

If the print heads are so gummed up that after printing, running the head-cleaning cycle a couple times, and printing again doesn't clean them up... you just need to get a new printer.
You won't have this kind of problem with laser printers, but yes 250 bucks for color can be a bit much. Sure it'll last 20 times longer than any inkjet will and cost you half as much per page, but 250 is a lot. If you want to stay with ink, or an all-in-one is your kind of thing, then you might just want to go to biglots or sams and pick up an HP C4180 or PSC1610 or something. HP inkjets seem to be the least sucky.

just get a b&w laser as mentioned above ... don't even bother with a cheap color laser unless you feel like paying about as much as you spent initially every time you want to refill the 4 cartridges. if you print color all the time then it might be worth it, otherwise just visit kinkos for those rare occasions and save yourself the dough. 8/24/2006 12:40:07 AM |

that usually causes trouble to begin with... i've never heard anyone with good experiences with refilling cartridges...
recycle them/trade them for paper, and buy new ones if cleaning/testing doesn't work...8/24/2006 10:09:21 PM |
