Just to confirm before I write a nasty letter, if you purchase the sausages for $2 you get them on additional bowls, its not a "misprint"?

the chances of there being a misprint on a chain's menu is highly unlikely - especially for promotions

oh i agree, the waitress did say that someone had asked earlier and that the manager said that it was a misprint. i understand that it probably isn't a misprint, especially since its still on olivegarden.com. I guess, do I talk to corporate or the store.

I also got a duplicate receipt, I guess I got one of the survey receipts

did you at least order a new plate of fettucini alfredo right when you were about to leave and have the waitress put it in a to-go box for you?

lame, they should have at least gave you sausages in your to-go plate

my sister once went to a red lobster near chapel hill and had a waiter named "Chuckles"
long story short: she had a horrible experience (ie. no refills, cold biscuits, messed-up service) and she wrote a letter to the corporate office saying how she would never eat there ever again, and they sent her $50 in gift certificates

BTdub, my rents ate at the Cary location last night and found a used napkin in their salad. Needless to say, they didn't pay for their meal

my husband and i ate at the olive garden tonight and i got the never ending pasta bowl. i was disappointed in their spinach alfredo sauce (the only reason i went with the never ending bowl). No refills for me. I should have gotten the ravioli di portabello like my husband did.

^^ If you didn't like it, couldn't you have just asked for a different kind? I was under the impression that you can change the pasta type and sauce as much as you want.

I'm sad to hear that about the spinach alfredo. I was looking forward to trying it.

^ No, you can't. You can only have one type according to my past two visits. If you want to change types, they charge you for each.

^ I'm glad I found that out before I went. The commercial says "try as many combinations as you'd like" or something like that... I guess that means on separate visits. Not that I could eat more than one plate anyway, though.

I tried ordering this once a few years ago. It sucked. The waiter came back 20 minutes later with a skimpy bowl of pasta. I ordered another the next time the guy came to the table when I was almost done with the first bowl. The guy came back another 20 minutes later. I was still hungry, but didn't want to sit in an Olive Garden for more than an hour.

By the way, Olive Garden sucks. If you ever think of taking a date there just give up and move to Garner. No respectable girl wants to be taken to OG. Take her to 518 West or EVOO, or something that isn't a chain. I get sucked in to meeting a group at an OG about once a year. I look around and see high schoolers and married WalMart regulars who think OG is a romantic night out.

I've gotten the never ending pasta bowl on several occasions and have always been able to get a different choice for each round, and they usually let me box up a bowl to take home, too. Maybe you guys have just had retarded waitstaff?

As for the original complaint, sounds like false advertising to me, either that or another case of retarded waitstaff. I'd check with a manager at that restaurant, and then go to corporate if he agrees with the waitress. You can at least get some free meals out of it.

If you ever have a problem with Olive Garden remember who you're sending the letter to and what you want out of it.

Explain that the waitress argued with you over what the menu said. State that the manager wouldn't even come to your table.

If it's the same douche bag that took over last month that I ran into go for it.

My situation. It was busy, I went with two friends for lunch and we didn't want to wait so we ate in the open bar. Basically anyone can just walk up and snag a table. We're waiting for our food when the ass is 10 feet from us and saying "why are they sitting there and not getting drinks (alcohol)" and had the balls to come up and ask me if I was going to order something or just eat breadsticks.

Now I wasn't dressed up because I was off work but we had already ordered our food. This guy was obviously a shitstick and I love shitsticks. There's something about them that brings the most vindictive evil side of me out.

we had an exchange of words because I didn't like his attitude (nothing bad) and we got our food to go. I called him a fat dick on the way out.

When I got home all three of us emailed OG corporate with his name, time it happened, waitress who did apologize for her manager. They called me up, I forget the guys title, he's in charge of the OG's in NC and SC and he asked me exactly what happened. I explained exactly what had happened and he was very surprised I was approached at all.

He offered me free food and I said no thanks, not until that guy is gone. He refunded my ticket to my visa. I'm pretty sure if he gets another complaint he's history.

chicago fats go spend 1k per week on dinner then. olive garden is above average eating. sure its not ruths chris but eating at a place like that 3-4 nights a week is not logical.

im sorry, its far from above average eating.

just the fact that all the sauces come frozen, as does damn near everything else they serve puts me off to a place.

that and its generic enough that i could make it myself and make it better.

id pay the $10 not to have to eat at olive garden.

Olive Garden is great for taking care of disgruntled customers. Don't waste your time writing a letter. Just use this:
http://www.olivegarden.com/company/contact_us/

It will be worth your while.

Where to begin...

If you really feel Olive Garden is "above average" then you need to get out more.

I didn't compare Olive Garden to Ruths Chris. I compared it to 518 -- which actually costs about the same and is much better. Most entrees are around $10 - $15 at both places. Appetizers and drinks are comparable with 518 having a better selection. Here's the menu if you don't believe me:

http://www.518west.com/dinner_entrees.shtml

I also mentioned EVOO - which is close to campus on Fairview off Oberlin, yes it will cost more. Ruths Chis (ok) and Cafe Luna (very good) are more expensive. I didn't bring them up.

Where do you get 3-4 nights a week? How do you come up with $1k? Do the math. You would have to take someone to The Melting Pot or Angus Barn every night of the week to approach that. If you did that the chick would get really fat and not be worth spending $1k on anyway. That wouldn't be "logical", would it?

i think carrabba's is pretty good for a chain restaurant. you don't get that wal-mart feel from the people who go there.
