I am looking to sell a Macbook Pro that I purchased in March. I just do not have any need for it anymore. Here are the specs:

15" screen
1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor
60 GB Hard Drive
1 GB memory (2 x 512 sticks)
ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB video card
DVD Burner

Here are some pictures:

I am hoping to get between $1400-$1500. It is a really nice laptop. It retailed for $1999, but I got upgraded graphics and RAM so it was closer to $2200.

i hope you get what you're asking. i'm using a similar model, and i've been really impressed with it's reliability and ease-of-use. truly a great laptop for a student or power user.

^Absolutely. It is a laptop that will last you for atleast 4 years and never slow down. It would definitely last a student 4 years while in school and probably more. It's basically having a desktop in the form of a laptop that has good battery life, great graphics, and is lightweight.

Wait did they come out with this one right before the ones that are out now?
I thought the Macbook Pro's right now were the first ones.

Do you know if you can get apple care on this sucka? or is it too late.

I'm really interested, and i'd love to see it sometime.

Thanks

Yeah this is one of the first model of Macbook Pro's released. I'm sure you could get apple care on it, but I am not quite sure. Right now they have Macbook's and Macbook Pro's. Pro's of course are more powerful. Can check it out whenever, just PM me.

the whine issue crops up on an extremely small group of these machines. the "blogosphere" hyped that issue a bit more than is borne out in reality. only the extreme first generation of these machines (not those that were sold more or less just before March) exhibited this problem. the very machine i'm using right now is one of the first generation models, and I've not had any whine issues.

What's more, about the whine issue, is that Apple is actually being straightforward about the issue. If you have the whine, take it to the Apple Store, or call 1-800-APPL-CARE (or whatever the number is), and they will work with you to get it replaced. It's not the deal-killer that everyone's making it out to be.

you can get AppleCare for about $250 (with edu discount) within 1 year of initial purchase. after that, i don't think that you can. if he bought it in early March, it's within the right timeframe.

I've had no problems with it. I'm in need of money and I already have a decent desktop.

I don't know what this whining noise people are talking about is so I can't reply to that. It has Microsoft Office on it ($300 value).

I can look for the receipt, but I cannot promise I'll find it. I have the original box and the startup discs along with MS Office discs. I posted it the laptop on craigslist and have already gotten two calls. I put it at a starting price of $1600-$1700 so it looks like I've been asking a little lower than I can get here. Here is a picture of the box:
