i've looked on google before for archival ncsu records and couldn't find them. i'm sure with a good bit of time i could, but it's not as simple as typing it into google. 9/6/2006 6:02:18 PM |

it took us 28 yrs to beat carolina...man, they kicked our ass really bad right to start with
then it looks like we got tired of getting beat and we didn't play them from about 1900-1920...
carolina had a good head start on us (4 yrs) on making up a team tho...
interesting stats. 9/7/2006 2:57:02 PM |

UNC was a much larger institution than A&M/State College for many, many years. Heck, they were around for a full century before talks of creating the college even existed. State College was not a typical university so didn't cater to the same things that UNC did... athletics naturally took a little longer to develop here. THe military use of the campus for a few decades was a bit limiting too. And to be honest there is little point in looking at athletics prior to the 50's
I like this site for refereces to historical data: http://football.stassen.com/ 9/7/2006 5:05:30 PM |

(unrelated, but fun if you haven't seen it...)
the best stat in that site is:
Maryland Yearly Results - 1892 L 11-19-1892 0 Episcopal HS (VA) 16 Alexandria, VA
wherein the university of maryland lost its third game ever, 0-16, to a local high school 9/8/2006 12:47:09 AM |
