For work I need to play an audio file (the voice recording part of a technical webinar) over the phone.
Right now, I'm holding the phone next to my computer speakers. I KNOW there has to be some way to patch in the audio directly to the phone conference bridge.
Anybody know how to do that?

back in the day a lot of computers came out of the box with phone software that could do that, you got an old compaq lying around? 9/7/2006 11:17:12 AM |

NO PROBLEM
Radio shack has an inline adapter that connects between your handset and the phone. It allows you to play anyting on a 1/8inch (headphone) jack. You'll also need a splitter that goes to your computer. Essentially it will play what your computer is playing on the phone while you can still talk and make comments etc. 9/7/2006 11:24:25 AM |

^^^ wow, that brings back memories of my old compaq deskpro 2000 (166mhz fast!!) with the revolutionary phone voicemail built into it ... i thought it was pretty cool back in 95, heh. computers were much more expensive in mid-late 90s for power/price compared to today.
on a side note, it doesn't seem like the description paragraph would even be applicable for today's software regarding my old 166mhz compaq:

It probably what they'll have (DO NOT confuse yourself with the items that let you RECORD phone calls. you need to be able to play something on the phont. Make sure it has a 1/8inch "2.5mm" jack on it). Make sure the salesman understands what you are trying to do.
If you got o Cary Crossroads Radio Shack as for Barry. He's been there for years.
If the above link is all they have that's FINE! you'll just also need to get a stereo to 2-mono y cable AND an adapter that takes a stereo connection and converts it to mono.
So here's your setup.
Telephone handset connection --> Phone adapter (above link) --> Stereo to 2 mono y adapter --> Mono to stereo adapter.
Then you'll have to test which one is the input and which one is not. You can use a pair of headphones to check which mono jack is live. (hope i didn't confuse you too bad) 9/7/2006 2:03:07 PM |
