Rediculous.

I don't understand how the landlords can keep the leases so high...if I were them I would want people in my space so I could make money. I wouldn't keep the lease so high and let the space be vacant for months and years...WTF? Do they even understand the concept of opportunity cost?

well, i think the lease is appropriate for that building with it's location. i've been saying it for like 3 years now, a hooters there would be the best hooters in the state.

seems kind of silly for it to be so expensive to open up a restaurant/bar on such a shitty street.

But if it's been vacant all this time...it stands to reason that the lease should be lowered. The owner is losing money...it just doesn't make sense not to put SOMEONE in there at SOME agreeable rent...even if you have to raise it later.

I think it was more than that. The building owner agreed to do some renovations on his tab and then changed his mind so the deal fell through. I don't know the details but yeah the company that owns them is slime. Ask any business owner owned by them on the strip.

It's also the fact that getting a bank loan to start a restaurant is one of the most difficult loans to get because it's such a risky business.

It's just unfortunate that an economic turnaround is slow to hit that little section, but in 10-20 years that will be the hottest place on Hillsborough Street again.

Dogfish head does.

Raison D'Etre Voted 'American Beer Of The Year' in January 2000 by Malt Advocate Magazine. A deep mahogany ale brewed with beet sugar, green raisins, and Belgian yeast. As complex as a fine red wine. 36 IBU - available year round, 12 ounce bottles & draft - Descriptors: Notes of pit fruit, decadent, winey, raisiney, malty.[
