13 years in NC = no earthquakes.
1 year 7 mos. in California = 1 earthquake
1 year in Hawaii = 3 earthquakes

I'm not really concerned about the east coast.

The 1886 Charleston earthquake was estimated to be btw a 6.6 and 7.3 and screwed up alot of brick structures in the area.

The Gulf of Mexico would be a real bad place to have a tsunami though...thats for sure.

I remember it. My buddy and I looked at each other confused and said, "Was that a train? It didn't really feel like a train," and then kind of went on with our day until someone mentioned later that there had been an earthquake. Would have been my freshman year, so three years ago.

I didn't feel it, therefore it couldn't possibly have happened. That's what I'm getting at.

Yeah, Katrina's damage would be nickels and dimes compared to what a major wave could do to the Gulf...

My building at work would be FUCKED if a major earthquake hit in the Bay Area near SF... I haven't felt the slightest tremor in 2 months though even though there have been tons of quakes around 2-3 on the richter

They have them almost every year in the NC mountains (hence the yellow on that picture). They're usually very small, though one that happened earlier this year rattled things a bit more than usual.

I remember this one, but I don't remember one in Raleigh 2 years ago. Not saying it didn't happen, just that I don't recall it.

Yeah, we're on the 2nd biggest fault in NC, but are we on the second most active?
