The 1886 Charleston earthquake was estimated to be btw a 6.6 and 7.3 and screwed up alot of brick structures in the area.
The Gulf of Mexico would be a real bad place to have a tsunami though...thats for sure. 9/10/2006 5:15:37 PM |

I remember it. My buddy and I looked at each other confused and said, "Was that a train? It didn't really feel like a train," and then kind of went on with our day until someone mentioned later that there had been an earthquake. Would have been my freshman year, so three years ago.

I didn't feel it, therefore it couldn't possibly have happened. That's what I'm getting at. 9/10/2006 6:54:52 PM |

Yeah, Katrina's damage would be nickels and dimes compared to what a major wave could do to the Gulf...9/10/2006 11:28:28 PM |

They have them almost every year in the NC mountains (hence the yellow on that picture). They're usually very small, though one that happened earlier this year rattled things a bit more than usual. 9/11/2006 9:40:30 AM |

I remember this one, but I don't remember one in Raleigh 2 years ago. Not saying it didn't happen, just that I don't recall it.
