who gives a damn how many places are featured in the movie??

this year: inside man, v for vendetta, lucky number slevin, talladega nights, MI3 > alexander

last year: crash, Capote, batman begins, 40 y/o virgin, kiss kiss bang bang, constant gardner, walk the line, and i'm sick of this, point proven

the entire movie was like a bad history lesson

either read a book and learn some about the facts or you watch a movie thats entertaining with a point, alexander was neither

Rome: the series takes the prize for best anything as of late.

and since i watched it like a movie (straight through for the first time on DVD) it counts for me

As I recall Alexander had like 60 Braveheart-esque inspirational speeches.

I mean, I'm not going to say it was the greatest movie ever, I for one enjoyed it and purchased it.

"Stone To Release Third 'Alexander' Cut
Director Oliver Stone will release a third version of his Alexander epic in a bid to win over critics who originally mauled the movie. The Platoon filmmaker insists the cinematic version of Alexander was hampered by time constraints after being slashed to 168 minutes in length. Stone originally wanted to release the movie in its original three-hour form but concerned studio bosses forced him to axe scenes containing homosexual content. The new DVD-only release will be a staggering three hours and 40 minutes in length, and will feature footage edited out of the original cut. Stone says, "This thing has haunted me. By truncating it into three hours, we lost things that were important. This version allows you to immerse yourself in the classical world." "

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

concept of the movie was great, actors were horrible, so the movie sucked and blew in the box office.

The best part of that movie was Rosario Dawson. She may not have acted that well but damn, she fine.

Gladiator > Alexander

It doesn't take you to India, but it is set partly in the middle east.

Gladiator is infinitely better than Alexander

When they do movies about ancient Greece and Rome...

Why do they give the characters a British accent?

This is one of the dumbest things in movies.

because england is a lot closer than america. so its more realistic. /stupidreason plus i'd rather here a brit talk then an american.

unless of course you just want to watch the movie in latin and go for the whole passions theme where the movie is shot in its native language according to that era.

Gladiator>Rome The Series>Troy>Alexander

Of the modern "ancient warfare" movies.

Sucks because Alexander (the real person) was so awesomely interesting and badass.

I would personally put Rome and Gladiator together...because both are equally badass in their own way. Gladiator well for obvious reasons. Rome because it shows you so many different aspects of Roman life. from sex with anything that walks to the big divide between plebs, nobels, upper class etc...it was very interesting to watch.

BTW is there a season 2 in the works?

it closer to correct....i guess.
see, if they really cared, and wanted to make a good movie, that accurately portrays the world it is showing you, they wouldn't be talking in english period, and there would be subtitles.

gibson style

If you thought that Alexander was great then you have absolutely horrible taste in movies.

Watch Discovery HD and get the same effect only with far more entertainment.

Collin Farrel as Alexander? Right, Fuck off.
