So my TI-89 that I bought off tww about a month or so ago that was in perfect condition, only a year old, now, all of a sudden has lines through the screen. I turned it on in my class last monday and a horizontal black line went through the screen and then it faded to clear and there is no pixelation on the line. Well, as I'm just now using it, more and more lines (all around the original) keep going black and then fading out, so there are now 4 or 5 faded out lines. I could deal with 1, but not this! Is the calculator shot? Or is there something I can do to stop to fix it. I changed out the batteries already, and the didn't do anything.

Try smacking it good and hard in all directions (seriously). This happens when the contacts on the LCD panel shift some, and smacking can sometimes fix it (and sometimes make it worse, but what you got to lose?). 9/17/2006 8:51:46 PM |

1. go buy a new one. 2. remove it from the package and put this one in the package in it's place. 3. take it back to the store and tell them that as soon as you turned it on it had a bunch of lines in the screen, and you just want to get your $ back. 9/20/2006 2:17:34 AM |
