(yes, it's in the other thread but this sort of stuff deserves its own thread -- similar to the chris wright deal)

JJ Hickson (6'9" 220lbs), 5 Star big man from Georgia is visiting this weekend. Show him some love at the game if you see him. He'll probably be sitting in the same area that Chris Wright did. Chants, signs, anything. We need big guys, and this is one of the best in the country. FLA and TENN are also looking good for him.

Hahah I hope we sign him before this year starts then.

If you think we are going to be good this year then you have a suprise coming in November.

If we really want to land this guy, maybe we shouldn't take him to the game eh? Give him a quick tour, show him the dance team/cheerleading squad while they're stretching or something, throw him in a limo and hightail it back to the RBC or Reynolds before the game starts. I mean, you think he'll be impressed when Amato shows up on the jumbotron and everyone is booing him the hell out?

but of course when our shitty fans cause prime recruits to go elsewhere, we'll come up with a million reasons why we can't recruit, and call for Sidney's head. Or fowler's.

^^idk its still early in the season and i'm pretty pumped myself to see Evans play.

Plus, Evans is a local...people might show up just to see him even if we're sucking asshole.

you're trying to tell me there aren't players who just want to go to college as a bridge to the NBA?

I think it's MUCH easier to rebuild a basketball team than a football team. Football is the ultimate team game, case in point, the year after Philip left, we had loads of talent at every postion except one, which cost us big. All it takes is 2 solid basketball players to build around in recruiting, preferably McDonalds guys . Getting the ball rolling in basketball is just easier, one recruit can spurn another, and that's all it takes to get a good team going and one season of rebulding is possible over 4-6. Possible, not proboble, but there's no reason we should struggle more than 2 seasons, but we very well could.

If it is easier to build a great basketball team than a great football team, then why doesn't every school have a good basketball team?

You may be able to build around 2 guys, but finding and getting those 2 guys is much harder than football.

in basketball 2 players = 40 percent of your team on the court

in football 2 players= <10 percent of your team on the field

A couple studs in basketball can make a much bigger impact than in football

Julius Hodge liked our stupid ass cheers & signs when we were recruiting him.

We did that at the red & white game his h.s. senior year & committed right after that.

he is saying we were all even and the team was united

when he left, there was a hole and it wasnt a whole talented team

i get what he meant completely, the leadership was gone

Maybe thats what he meant

But what he said is that football is "the ultimate team game"

And then he used an example of how 1 guy out of 22 starters left and the wheels fell off.

Doesn't sound like such a team game to me when 1 player is that important.

i talked to him at the game for like 20 minutes. He didnt seem that interested and kept sending text messages on his phone. So i had this hot girl sit next to him and talk to him. hopefully this made the game a little better for him, but who knows. I tried atleast

i thought there were some recruiting rules about that...if you're a booster (like I am) or associated with a school (student/alumni) you're not supposed to contact prospects and try to lure them to your school....

i saw him with the whole coaching staff with hickson at the farmer's market saturday morning. i thought he looked pretty apathetic, too. however, it may have been because he was sick, because larry harris disappeared for awhile and came back with a box of tissues and jj kept blowing his nose. just a thought.
