This class is hands down the hardest class I have taken. I have it with Tyler.

Seriously though, not trying to laugh at your misfortune or anything, but C-Money is the only way to go for 480. Class was a breeze, and I needed it to make up for the other 17 hours of 400-level classes I took along w/ BUS 480.

i never read and studied so damn much in my whole college career

the material makes sense but she is an academic with no real world work experience in business so the presentation of the material is dry

make sure to start early on the group project due at the end

its not hard if you go to class and just listen. listen whenever she goes over the cases, and take some notes so you will remember for the exams. There is some extra credit, so do that. The tests are not very hard if you study a little bit, I think my lowest grade was a 92.

I'd be willing to guess that you're 1 out of 1 people on the face of planet earth (including Young's parents) who don't hate him with a passion if you've met him longer than 2.5 minutes.

Seriously. Look at school tool. Look at the 480 sections when class registration starts. It goes like this:

Czarnecki = filled up in 5 minutes
Padilla = filled up in 15 minutes
Tyler = filled up in a few days
Young = 50 open seats that never get taken b/c students would rather graduate a semester late than take his sorry class

You haven't had a hard business class unless you've had BUS 480 with Gary Palin....that class was RIDICULOUS.

It's about the only class I had at State that even holds a candle to law school.

C-money's quizzes are pretty tough

but just do really well on the cases and make sure you talk A LOT in class, and if he likes you and you contribute to his stories, I mean, lectures, then you'll get a B or higher

when i took the class her tests were short answer/essay that reflect your knowledge of the core concepts...everyone worried about them, but if you know your stuff they aren't bad at all

Take G. Young during the summer. I got an A+ in there. There are three tests with the last one being optional to pull up your grade. The tests are open notes, and the test is straight from his lectures which everything is written on the board.

There are two presentations and two papers. Presentations are 5 min powerpoints, nothing real strenous. Papers are 7 pages, but he gives you the format page by page. You basically just plug in the information that relates to your groups strategy. Again not difficult.

Key to the class is being good at the business sim. My group got 10 extra credit points added onto our final grade from doing well in the sim.

Each week you get points for being best in class in the sim, conversely you lose points if you are worst in the class. Just dont do bad in the sim.

I would say that semester, she was very easy (maybe because it was in the afternoon) because of the EC on the first test "layout" with DeBeers. I would say she is a very fair teacher, and as long as she knows that you try in class and participate, you should do just fine. The only bit of information that I would pass along, is to stay on top of her semester long project, it is much easier then cramming a 20 page single spaced paper into one weekend. If you follow the paper along with the class, it should go much smoother (then mine).

^on second thought, maybe it wasnt her....we had a semester project, we wrote it up and also had to do a powerpoint(had to last like 25 minutes, any over a 1 or less than a 1 off that would be a penality) We were the second group to present ours, it is nice going after a group that sucked...and boring slides....we kicked there ass and we got the highest grade on the powerpoint. Each person in the group had to go over a portion of the project with powerpoints to go along. I saved the group by cutting out alot of what I was going to say(i was at the end, repeating everything, summary, etc) I ended up changing it on the fly. We could only take note cards up there for our parts. We would of lost major points if i hadnt done that.


I think I had Tyler, I know it was a female(been like 2ish years) The test were really hard, the essay was a nightmare, and she provided no extra time for the essays, so if you misjudged how much time(50 minute class, like 40 multi choice and 1 or 2 essays) then you were screwed. She would give us the possible essay questions beforehand, so you can answer them and then try to memorize.....since she did that she expected them to be perfect.
