Okay, here is the situation:

I have 3 cats that I have to find new homes for within the next couple of weeks. I am in a situation where I HAVE to move (I don't feel like going into details) and the cats cannot come with me because I am moving in with my aunt and she is super, super allergic to cats. She has told me that she cannot have the cats at her house. I am going to be staying with her at LEAST 8 months, so I don't want to move the cats somewhere else for that length of time. I would much rather find them a good home.
Here are brief descriptions of each cat:

The first cat is a 1 year old medium-haired solid black female. She loves the outdoors, but stays inside most of the time. She is spayed and up-to-date on all shots. She will need a rabies shot this fall, but if that's an issue, I will have her shot done before you get her. She has a skin allergy, so we have a special spray that we put on her to control the itching, so I will include that for free. She does have some missing hair on her hind end from where she was scratching before. It is in the process of growing back.

The second cat is a 1 year old short-haired tortoise-shell female. This cat is exceptionally sweet. She stays inside all the time and is spayed and up-to-date on all shots. She has a toy mouse that she fetches and is just a great cat. She has no medical problems.

The last cat is a 8 month old long-haired orange male. He is a bit shy, but warms up to people pretty fast. He also stays inside all the time and is neutered and up-to-date on all shots. He also has no medical problems.

I truly hate to get rid of these cats, but I really don't have a choice. I am asking that an adoption fee of $10/per cat be paid to ensure that they go to good homes. I am also asking that the last two cats go to the same home because they are incredibly bonded to each other.

Also, I have been fostering a dog that I had posted on here about a few months ago. He was returned to me after his owner had to move to an apartment. He is a golden retriever/saint bernard mix. He is incredibly sweet. If anyone is interested in him, you can PM me also. I am asking a $10 adoption fee for him as well. He is also neutered and up-to-date on shots.

You'll also have better luck finding a home for them if you post pictures.

I agree with Smath. $10 bucks is going to "ensure" that your animals get a good home. A fucking homeless person can get $10 standing on the corner of Hillsborough and Gorman in 2 hours. You sound like an idiot.
You probably aren't.
But you sound like it.

I'm working on getting pictures. I know that $10 doesn't ensure a good home, but it is better than just saying "free." Some of you say I shouldn't charge, others say I'm not asking enough, so I think $10 is a medium. Oh, and I am working on getting pictures up.

I don't understand. I have worked with IAR (animal rescue) for a few years and $10 is no different than "free"! Especially on this site. I understand your situation and you seem to be trying to do the right thing but don't let $30 come between you getting some spare change and you finding these animals a good home. The "I'm charging a $10 adoption fee" routine sounds offensive to someone who may be willing to give one of these animals a home. It's sounds like you want some pocket change for your trouble. Let it go. The only way you can determine that these animals get a good home is you taking the initiative to question the people who want to come adopt. Most folks aren't going out of their way to show up at your house and take these animals and then be a shit owner.
I know it happens, but it's unlikley. I have gotten 6 dogs adopted over TWW and so far it's all good.
Just a thought ...

Oh yeah....I haven't seen one post that says you are charging too much.
Good luck man...I love animals more than a lot of people....and if I can actually help (without criticizing) I will!
Really!

$10 keeps people from acquiring a pet then selling to research ... while research companies do pay for the animals, they don't pay much

That's such bullshit that I can't even believe that you think it.

damn, if people think I'm charging so I can get some pocket change, then I will donate the money to a local animal organization. If it would make someone feel better, then you could write a $10 check to your favorite animal charity and give it to me and I will be happy to deliver it. I don't care about the money.

Yeah Manbitch, I think that $10 is useless.

HOWEVER.....in all fairness, you had the cats spayed and neutered, have their shots up to date. Have the items they need for the person who can take them in. That's something to be said and it's the sign of a good owner.

I hope you find them a good home.
