in Houston so the only game in town right now is the Texans.

First & 10 was a D-line sack. DeMeco Ryans forced Culpepper to the front of the pocket and Mario finished him off (1 sack)

Second & 13 - Sacked by someone else, but Williams got a hand on Culpepper to finish it. (0.5 sack)

The defense and the crowd both came to life there. The Texans may just win this game.

PS. Doesn't hurt that the 'Stros are sucking it up, so the people need something to cheer for.

Mario also tipped the two point conversion pass that would have tied the game with under 2 minutes to go.

Why has it taken Bush so long to score a touchdown?

I even expected him to get one today.

He is more of a flop than I expected.

He has rushed for yards and helped his team score. All offensive stats aren't measured in TDs. However, with Mario, they are measured in sacks and tackles, things he is doing very bad in.

Through 3 games...

Quote :
"If you need proof.. here are the rookie defensive stats...

Tackles No.
1. D. Ryans HOU 30
2. E. Sims DET 27
3. K. Ellison BUF 22
4. D. Jackson CLE 20
5. A. Hawk GB 20

Sacks No.
1. D. Tapp SEA 2
2. M. Lawson SF 2
3. M. Anderson CHI 1.5
4. K. Simpson BUF 1
5. K. Wimbley CLE 1

Mario has 8 tackles and 0 sacks in three games.

Now compare that to Reggie Bush (sharing time with duece & returning punts)

Rushing Yds
1. L. Maroney NE 169
2. R. Bush NO 125
3. J. Addai IND 123
4. M. Jones-Drew JAC 115
5. M. Bell DEN 114

Receptions No.
1. R. Bush NO 19
2. M. Colston NO 15
3. G. Jennings GB 10
4. J. Addai IND 8
5. M. Jones-Drew JAC 6

This is just comparing rookies since we are debating the 2006 draft. Obviously Bush should have been #1.
"

8 tackles and 0 sacks is just plain PATHETIC.

moron, DE's arent measured on tackles. Freeney avgs like 2.5 tackles a game for his career. they are measured on sacks, TFL's and hurries.

it's disappointing, but you need to investigate WHY.
1. mario is being moved around all over the place.
2. until today, houston wasn't a blizting team. they typically only rushed four.
3. mario is barely getting help from his defensive backs.
4. mario is the focus of the d-line. him getting attention HAS helped his fellow linemen get sacks.
5. just like you credit bush with helping offenses score, you have to acknowledge the other ways linemen affect games, but don't get stats for.

And I am sure the other teams are just letting Bush run wild on the field and he still can't manage to score

^Kinda like how Vick does most of the time, but you idiots turn a blind eye to that?

Congrats on Mario's first sack

It was cheap as fuck though haha, someone else flushed Daunte right into Mario

And on the half sack Culpepper fell down and Mario tagged him.

And im not hating by saying this. Sometimes you get cheap sacks... makes up for the times you flsuh the QB into someone else for the sack...

People drive me nuts with all this statistic stuff... you can be the best DE in the game and only get 6 sacks in a season... they are somewhat fluky statistics on a game by game basis... its not baseball where statistics more clearly measure your value....

Anyway, congrats to Mario. Hopefully it'll get some pressure off him and he'll start playing better in the coming weeks than he has thus far.

^^^ You're making way too much sense to him.

He'll never understand that.

Looking purely at the LE vs. RT matchups (and thus not accounting for the Texans' moving him all over the place), he matched up against some premier RTs in those first three games. Vernon Carey may have presented him with the first mismatch slanted in his favor.

Meanwhile, the Saints drew the Browns, Packers, and Falcons. This was supposed to be easy pickings for Bush.

Nobody outside of NC cares, except all of the reporters and analysts who keep talking shit about him but now at least he has the sack. Jesus christ. Give the kid some credit.

Lets do this....

Line Reggie up at DE and see how the fuck he does. I guarantee that Mario would perform better at tailback than Reggie would at DE. Lets match them that way since you idiots want to compare the two so fucking bad.

From a football perspective taking Mario over Bush looks like the correct pick.

good RB's are a dime a dozen right now. Maroney and Deangelo Williams both look really sick. Those are late first round picks...Even Maurice-Drew looks pretty good.

You arent gonna get a Mario Williams type DE at #25 in the draft ever...

From a business perspective the move still kinda sucks because the Texans still suck dick and cant win games... if Mario doesnt turn into a dominant DE then they will have a lot of explaining to do...

Wow, no offense man, but that just might be the dumbest thing ever posted in sports talk, and I have posted some REALLY dumb things in here.

That would be like saying...

"Well oh yeah, Ray Lewis is better because he could play QB better than Peyton could play linebacker!!1"

bush would be doing worse behind the texans o-line than he would behind the staints line.

^ you're helping him prove his point. comparing def ends and running backs IS fucking stupid as shit; just like comparing a linebacker and qb would be.

They may not win right away, but I don't think they're a worse professional football team for passing on Bush. Take September-January off the calendar and look at all the things like jersey sales and other organizational promotion bs that is constantly held against the Texans, and yeah, anyone could say they fucked up royally.

But I think if they continue to make the kind of moves that make a team successful - they have [potential] ~ stars at QB, WR, CB, DE, and LB - they will be fine, and those "what could have been" thoughts of 2006 will become "look at what it is" thoughts in 2010. However, it won't be pretty if the face of the franchise continues to be whoever happens to be on top of David Carr following a blown blocking assignment.

I still remember when ESPN interviewed people in a Houston sports bar not too long after that Fresno State game, and ALL the respondents said something to the effect of the Texans' NEED to take Bush. After the NC game, the sentiment took a shift and the people went 50-50 on Bush and Young.

I believe that if the combine were a televised event, and it was known that the Texans were considering taking Mario first, many Texans fans would have agreed with the choice.
