I've been browsing through the online databases, looking for the portrayal of insects in society, and have found only a few instances. Could anybody direct me to any other periods or just databases? Could be any period, any language. Sources where I've seen some references so far (but I've pretty much exhausted them, to my knowledge):
Surrealist and Naturalist poetry Archaeoentomology South African mythology Sumerian Animal Proverts (haven't looked through this yet but it's primarily a text document) Mediaeval Trials of Animals and Insects
I'm thinking about possibly getting into artwork about the Old Testament but don't know where to start.
The rest is modern stuff, not what I'm interested in. I've got a sneaky suspicion our professor wants us to focus on modern media but that's not working out so well - the only way I could go with today's references I think would be to look at newspaper and magazine articles, maybe a few recent movies. I even tried looking at insect-designed jewelry and accessories but I don't want to fucking buy the stuff and take a picture of it for the project, and I don't feel like browsing through department stores and whipping out my camera in the isle like a spy.
On a humorous note I did find this one article called "War on Insects" showing how enemies to the States in 1944 and 45 were depicted as insects. 10/4/2006 11:32:58 AM |
