OKay so its pretty much a foregone conclusion that Evans is going to get swallowed out there tonight.
So does Stone get a chance to come in and save the day? 10/5/2006 11:27:46 AM |

maybe, but I would think Evans would have to be getting creamed or throw a couple of picks before Stone came in.
And it wouldn't make sense to bring him in after halftime cause we all know it takes him at least a half to warm up. 10/5/2006 11:29:54 AM |

as long as Amato gives his same speech to all our Florida players like "These guys at Florida State...they didn't want you...they didn't think you were good enough...now lets go prove them wrong!" then the game will be competitive
hopefully Stone doesnt play, because that would mean most likely Evans is not playing well
unless he comes in during the 4th quarter for mop-up duty if we're up 35 points 10/5/2006 11:42:46 AM |

Stone might get a chance to play tonight if Daniel Evans cant play at this level.
Maybe he can... hopefully he can...
I doubt it though...
I could see us using Stone in the 4th quarter if Evans cant get it done... in fact i bet they have told Marcus to be ready tonight... 10/5/2006 12:01:24 PM |

Evans will start every game and finish every game from here out (unless injured)
that's the way it will be
no matter how much we might be losing, chuck got his excuse to start the redshirt sophomore and i'm sure knows that he is much more talented and has more time than stone. No reason to go to a player with 1 less year of eligibility and isn't as smart.
And at least Evans has the balls to step into a pass EVEN when his pocket has collapsed and he's about to get the shit knocked out of him 10/5/2006 12:07:01 PM |

I'm not going to say that Stone sucks, but Evans has won the QB race at this point. He needs time to gel with the offense, and should stay in even if we're getting our asses kicked. 10/5/2006 12:10:56 PM |

So if it's 10-0 entering the 4th quarter and Evans is 5-16 with 35 yards passing you don't think we should put in Stone for the 4th quarter?
Look, I hate Stone more than the next guy but id put him in under those circumstances. 10/5/2006 12:21:20 PM |

^ what kind of demoralizing shit is that
they didn't put stone in on that last drive last time did they? The circumstance still remains that you can't flip flop between qb's all year and be successfull. Stick with one. Purdue and Michigan and other teams i can't think of right now have had failure in their clubs because they "flip flopped" and when a starter was used the following year all season, it made all the difference in the leadership role

You guys are ridiculous
Stone lost the starting job because he has no game smarts, he scrambles for a 3 yard gain on 3rd and 8 EVERY TIME. And that's when there's not even that much pressure, if Evans is getting hit then Stone is just going to go out there and be a dumbass and scramble around for no gain like he always does because his progression is "1) Is my main receiver open after 2 seconds? 2) Who's trying to kill me?"
There's no way Stone comes in unless Evans gets injured. 10/5/2006 12:52:25 PM |

Nope - it's Evans' game to win or lose if we're in that position. No way would I try to screw up our QB's head by pulling him in that situation.
I have no idea how Evans will pan out, but unless the O-line can start creating holes on a regular basis this is all a moot point. Evans, Stone, Burke, my dog, whomever... is going to lose if they can't keep it together. Having a consistant run attack will open up the passing, then its up to Evans to not give the ball away.
I think we will pull something out of our asses and win by 3-7. Either that, or we're going to get crushed. I can't see some middle ground.10/5/2006 1:38:47 PM |

I really don't think Evans will get pulled tonight. First, I don't see him going 5-15 for 36 yards. He's not going to tear it up...but it won't be that bad.
Second...everybody knows Stone can't do any better. Amato knows that, Trestman knows that, and the fans know that. We pulled Jay last year because we had an unknown in Marcus. Marcus is not an unknown this year....WE KNOW HE SUCK.
He won't make it into the game this year or for the remainder of his career unless it's a blowout. 10/5/2006 1:51:59 PM |
BiggzsIII All American 5016 Posts user info edit post |
As long as Evans does not get hurt, and does not cause/lead to repetitive turn overs he will not get pulled. He has to go through challenges to be perm starter of the future. What better challenge than FSU on Thursday...don't be surprised if he pulls out a good solid game...nothing great...I think the team going to rally to protect him...keep it simple yet challenging.
And you know all the players don't want to look bad against they former HS teammates...
State wins by 14....

Evans didn't run for 75 yards like Vick, so he sucks.
