Weaver vs. Glavine tonight, 8pm

anybody know which game will be on FOX tonight? i'd much rather watch it on Fox than FX

BTW, no Rick Ankiel this time, NyM410.

I imagine Cards/Mets will be on FOX and A's/Tigers get dumped to FX.

I find it amazing that Jeff Weaver is starting Game 1 in the NLCS. Obviously he pitched well in the NLDS against SD, but holy damn he sucked ass this year and now is starting a huge game. Amazing.

Also I realize that Carpenter would be the choice if he hadn't pitched just a few days ago, but you would think the Cards would have someone better to throw out there tonight. Here's hoping he shuts out the Mess and gets the Cards off to a good start...

^^It was either Weaver or Marquis or a rookie, Anthony Reyes.

La Russa didn't have a choice. And actually Weaver pitched well down the stretch, especially on the road. I hope the Cards can just win 1 of the first 2 in NY. Good call on no Ankiel this time! 5th time in 7 years Cards have been in the NLCS, and only 1 Series appearance to show.

I don't expect Braves fans to understand the playoff format past the NLDS.

Yeah, in the first wildcard season... Mets have a pennant in '00 and unless you're insane you have to think they will again this year..

So Carpenter may move into games 2 and 6 and Suppan back to 3 and 7 thanks to God!

Quote :
" In his last 10 starts during the regular season, Weaver was 3-2 with a 2.92 ERA."

I don't understand why everyone is bashing him and La Russa for putting him out there.

Wake the F up bats.. Weaver blows but both pitchers are getting 6 inches off the plate outside so it makes it a bit easier to pitch..

Yeah I was expecting Glavine to get those pitches, that's the only reason he is worth a shit, but Weaver is getting them??? Preston Wilson starting is a joke Tony...especially hitting in front of Albert.

Rolen didn't get a hit, what a shock! He sucks in the postseason.

Pujols CANNOT go 0-4 and Cards have a chance.

If you would have told me that Weaver would have went 6 innings and only allowed 2 runs, I would have said the Cards would win this game.

Fuck Beltran that bastard, hits like Babe Ruth against the Cards.

How does that help? Carpenter is still only pitching 2 games. His splits show he is a 4.70 pitcher on the road this year and under 2.00 at home..

He could pitch great but he isn't nearly as good on the road. I like our chances. Great game tonight. Absolutely as well played a game defensively and pitching wise as you could hope for in the playoffs. For my money that was the best game of the playoffs so far...

^Suppan's splits are a LOT better at home too. Carp is money no matter what.

La Russa should have pulled Weaver and pinch hit when they got 2 on in the 5th....that was really the only time the Cards threatened.

^^ haha.. New York crowd >>>>>>>>>>>>>> anywhere else in the country when it comes to noise.

Good win for you guys last night. I thought it was going to be a crappy series and it still might be but you stealing one in Shea was a good win.

Quote :
"Albert Pujols, as quoted by Johnette Howard in Newsday, talking with reporters on Wednesday, when the Cardinals arrived to Shea Stadium…

“Get out of my freaking locker - you people are a pain, you know that”…

During Thursday’s game, Pujols was hitless against Tom Glavine, who tossed seven scoreless innings in a Game One win…

Pujols on Glavine, talking with reporters after Wednesday’s game…

“He wasn't good. He wasn't good at all.

“I think we hit the ball hard, we didn't get some breaks…

“I say he wasn't good at all. We just didn't get some opportunities and that's it…

“He did same thing that he always does. Throw a changeup, fastball and that was it. I just think we should've done a better job than we did.”…"

When did Pujols become a dick. This guy wouldn't survive a day playing in a real city like New York. He'd be the next A-Rod. Great player, great numbers, no balls..

Actually I am joking. I still think the Mets can win. but this is god damn pitiful.

Though I am gonna rip through a 12 pack tomorrow night stomaching Oliver Perez trying to save the season. I guess this is what is so good about baseball. The Mets (and Yankees for that matter) were the best team EASILY in the NL but the Cards are playing the best when it matters..
