I'm going drinking with my girlfriends tonight. They've never gotten sloshed in a bar, period, and I just moved here two months ago.

Which bars would you recommend we go to?

Are your friends hot? My recommendation is based largely on how they look.

What's your budget?

I hear lots of girls like Blue Martini. Its pricey, but nice.

My buddy works at Havana's...I'm sure he'll help you get your girls sloshed

if you can't stand smoke don't go to Havanas. Its a cigar bar so it gets very smokey in their.

Stool Pigeons has that normal bar atmosphere and is usually pretty happening. Around the Corner is a dude fest, which you may like, but the bar is so packed its almost impossible to get served.

umm...don't go to Rum Runners, its usually dead on thursdays because wednesdays is its big night with $1 wells.

don't have any experience with Blu Martini. and Aries..ehhh its ok

^^^ I'd say they're hot. Not "oh my friggin god" hot, but "normal" hot.

^ I'm looking for a few places that are kind of casual with good mixed drinks that are decently priced.

I like white collar crime although ive never been on a thursday night. Lucky B's off of Gleenwood is reasonably priced but also very packed (at least on the weekends).

I'm in the "to be sloshed" group. She's been a corruptive force since she moved here.

always a good crowd / no cover and.....AND they make very stiff drinks

i would also go Red Room / nice atmosphere, decent food if you like tapas and IHATESPIDA works there and he also makes good, stiff drinks

OR just come to my house. i will provide all the drinks you want

on thursdays we normally hit bogarts for the 1/2 priced martinis- you must try the scarlett street!!!
then we move on to the red room and hi 5, all are free for ladies 21+
there is normally a decent crowd- have fun

Blue Martini, Rockford, Humble Pie, Havana Deluxe, Slims, Mosaic if you want drinks and don't want to be hit on by scores of retards.

White Collar Crime, Bogarts (thursdays), Red Room, Hi5 (seriously much better than it used to be) if you want to dance and not get hit on entirely by thugs and meatheads (there are still a fair share)

Aura/Rush, Est Est Est (is it still open?) for meatheads and thug dancing

Hibernian, Stool Pigeons, Flying Saucer, Napper Tandys, Rum Runners if you want to be surrounded by Fratties, underagers and yuppies.

ummmm have you ever been to any of those places? Hibernian and saucer are far from that

if anything saucer is a more older, laid back crowd and it is not a cluster fuck like the rest of them

if any places has a bunch of fratties it is the Bogarts and red room type places.... mostly metrosexual faggots, suppose you fit that type so you like those places, but lets make sure the assesments are accurate

wcc is the new jillians now

Im speaking about those respective places on their "busy" nights.

AKA Saucer on Mondays.

I've been to hibernian and saucer for years. I like both, but they are very White, Preppy places.

^Actually Red Room is where most of the international kids go on the electronica nights, and Bogarts is a much older yuppie/business crowd.

WCC is definitely the new jillians.

I didn't say any of those places suck, or not to go to them, I'm just giving my impressions of the crowds. I go to all of the places I mentioned, mainly because it's enjoyable to switch things up, and being a "regular" is fucking retarded.

Not to mention I don't drink often anymore, and when I do it isn't to go out and hunt ass, being able to dance with friends, get drinks, hear the person next to me, room to move and not getting shot are my only real bar priorities

dont you think that line of reasoning is retarded?

that is like saying the weather in NC sucks ass cause it was 20 degrees one day in winter time (which it isnt, just making reference)

no, bars traditionally have "busy nights". AKA nights with particular events, drink specials or promotions. If ALL you just want to go somewhere to drink alcohol, why the fuck would you go to a bar in the first place? You go for the crowd, specials, or promotions.

That is when MOST people go to said bars. That has no methaphorical correlation to the weather at all.

Rockford, Slims, Havanah Deluxe, Amra's, Blue Martini, Alibi, and The Burrough (at The Dawson on Morgan), Poole's Diner are all pretty chill places. Sometimes WCC.

Good Dives -- The Office Tavern (not to be confused with the Office) and The Players Retreat.

For live music (rock) -- Pour House, Slims, Kings, Raleigh Music Hall

Avoid at all costs -- Stool Pidgeons, Aura / Rush, Lucky B's or Luck 13 or around the corner or whatever it's called.

If none of this helped, check the danged independent, gosh! (http://www.indyweek.com).
Find something you like and go there.

Have fun

I've seen the breakdancing there on thursdays too...

...and i think on thursdays they do the 80 / 80s thing where 80 percent of all the music they play is from the 80s and you only have to pay 80 percent of your tab...

SERIOUSLY -- that's like saving 20 percent or something.

Mosaic and Amra's are both really awesome. Amra's is swank and Mosaic has an exotic charm.

Both on/near Glenwood.

White Collar crime was cool a few years ago when I was underaged, i dunno how cool it would be now though

Martin Street was cool too before it became a music hall
