Or had any experiences with Buell's at all. Are they good for beginner's, reliable, cheaper to maintain? Just looking for a bit of first hand knowledge.

only Buell i've ridden was a Blast, which doesn't really count.

i like them, but in terms of bang for the buck, the only reason to buy one is simply because you feel that you must have a Buell.

reliable no. cheaper to maintain.. refer to first answer.. it's a harley.... cmon

there was a period when buell's first came out that they majorily sucked. i think they have gotten better in terms of reliability but i still wouldnt trust it.

i would trust my life to a buell... All the ones I have delt with have ben stone reliable. and probabally the best handling bike out there(yeah really) Friend of mine was an engineer for buell for years. The XB engines though like old Sportster motors is nowhere near it, will run for next to ever, and is decently user friendly when it comes to maintance.

call me ignorant but i strongly disagree.

my list would be someting like

jap race replica bikes,
ducati race replica...
volkswagons

..
buell's

good handling is in the eye of the beholder.

yeah, i've never personally ridden anything other than a Blast, but I haven't read anything, ever, that indicates that any Buell product handles as well as any of the Japanese or Italian race-replica offerings.

it's a shame...i love Buell's styling, sound, etc...but they're somewhat underpowered, grossly overpriced, and I'm not convinced they'd be on par in terms of handling (i have read good things about their brakes).

what? damn, if you say so. my buddy and i rented a firebolt and a lightning from the h.d. (sheltons?) place in smithfield for a day ($60 each. can't beat it.). all it was to me was a wheelie machine. i swear a beginner could ride a wheelie like a pro on that thing. i hated the way it handled. the bike felt like it was just too fucking short. fun bike to ride though. it is definitely a torque monster but i still feel like wheelies are the only thing its good for. my new bike ('06 gsx-r 1000) will do at 6K what the firebolt wish it could do period.

the only bike i'd let myself get is a v-rod or a street rod... cause all other harleys are to "old looking" for me and i have more balls than brains soo.... a sport bike would get me killed (last one i rode was a busa on the bottle EEEEKKK!!!)
