My wife and I have several queen and king comforters that got musty during our move and subsequent storage. However, due to their size, we can't wash them in our own washer. Do any of you know of any cleaners in the area that wash comforters for a relatively inexpensive price? We'd really appreciate this information. Thanks.

Most dry cleaners are able to do it. Just call and ask; I just got mine done, but it was in Greenville.

The laundry place in the Food Lion / Big Lot shopping center has some HUGE front loading washing machines if you want to go that route. Don't put them in a wringer washer whatever you do.

Yeah most dry cleaners will do it for you. Some for 10 bucks or under. Probably better to take it to them instead of doing it at a laudromat.

from my experience . . . the problem with washing it yourself isn't so much the size of the washing machine . . . but more the dryer. If your dryer isn't big enough to make it tumble, then it ends up burning spots on it.

I've been told that you shouldn't wash them in a home washing machine as it is probably too big and could fuck your washing machine up

The one by the Food Lion/Big Lots on western is the only laundromat I've been to, so I didn't know huge washers and dryers were ever hard to come by

a standard queen comforter is 8.5'x10'. A standard king is 10'x10'. As I recall, I had room to spare in the largest washer at that laundromat. Take it in and see if you can test the dryer out for size?

They can usually get blood out of them too, in case you had a body or two wrapped up in them.

Get your comforters cleaned at your own risk! I worked in a Dry Cleaners for 4 years during HS and peoples comforters were used on multiple occations for inappropriate reasons. But this cleaners was run by a bunch of High Schoolers...including me.

dry clean city up on peace st next to jersey mikes and fish pros washes them. $20 or so.

Thanks everybody for the info. Btw, I called the Dry Clean City at Millbrook and Glenwood ($1.50 Dry Clean City), and they quoted me $16.05 for comforters and $21.05 for down comforters, which is a bit rich for my blood. However, asking around, one of my wife's coworkers let us know about a place in Clayton - Barrett's Cleaners off of 42. They charge $10 per, which is great for us, since we live out in that direction. I hope that others find this information helpful.
