I'm looking to buy a White Leghorn rooster and some Silver Sebright bantams of both sexes. If anyone knows a good source of them, please let me know. 10/26/2006 8:43:14 PM |

I have 48 eggs in an incubator in my classroom. Due to hatch next Thursday, Nov. 2nd. Half are purebred white leghorns and half are purebred plymouth barred rocks. they were fertilized via A.I by a friend of mine. They're great quaility chickens.
You're welcome to have some after they're 3-4 weeks old. I will be asking for a small fee (a few dollars) to help cover all the money i'm spending on them. If you're planning on fighting them then forget it. I want them to go to good homes. 10/27/2006 11:23:49 AM |

XCchik, I'd be interesed in buying some of the leghorns, especially males. I'm not planning on fighting them, I just want to increase my flock. BTW, I ordered the bitties and started them at school in my ag. shop. 10/27/2006 4:15:39 PM |

Chickens!
I've got seven at the moment. (2 Araucana, 3 Red Sex Links, 1 Black Sex Link, 1 Brahma)
I'd definitely be interested in some plymouth barred rock females. 10/27/2006 4:32:31 PM |

We got our chicks in March in a straight run (half male half female) from somewhere in Sanford and kept the roosters until they were about 4 months old (they became dinner). We still have 10 or 11 hens, 1 White Leghorn and the rest Ameracauna (sic?) and heritage. Anyway, they produce brown, blue-green and occasionally pink eggs, usually 8-10 eggs a day between them all. Be prepared to get creative with eggs.
The coop was built from scrap plywood and dowels, and they get fed veggie scraps, bread and chicken feed.
We also have a black bantam rooster who sleeps in my room and gets his ass tossed out every morning because he starts crowing. His mate was a white bantam hen, she got eaten by either a dog or hawk so he sleeps inside the house.
Easiest pet to have, besides the crowing at 6:15 a.m. part.
Does anyone raise theirs for food or eggs, or keep them as pets? We do this on a city lot. 10/27/2006 6:55:32 PM |

the chickens don't get hurt. just minor healable scratches. owners throw in the towel before anything fatal happens. nobody wants to risk losing an experienced trained chicken for a few bucks. 10/27/2006 9:10:30 PM |

It's Angier, man. The cops know, the cops don't care. Hell, they might be in on it. Besides, I'd rather he fight birds than dogs.10/27/2006 9:18:42 PM |

yea i'd love to keep some. I don't think we're zoned for it and my neighbors probably won't appreciate it. If i ever come across a bantam Silkie i'll definitely keep it though. (they're pretty quiet)
We're thinking of converting the older greenhouse at the school into a chicken coop/house. but that would be a lot of work...
I spent $150 on lumber and wire to build a coop that will fit in the classroom when they're a few weeks old. I have a 50 gallon rubbermaid brooder for the first week. ($20 at Target) 10/27/2006 9:27:30 PM |

the difference between us and the romans is that we are a much more civilized society and there is no need for such bloody spectator sports. 10/28/2006 10:39:53 AM |

Animals quarrel all the time in the wilderness. It's their instinct to fight and battle for positions in the kingdom. I'm not against fighting animals, but I realy don't see what's so wrong about it. I am against being neglectful towards humans. That I will not stand for at all. 10/31/2006 10:18:09 PM |

unfortunately, most animals dont have the mental capacity to remove themselves fromm bad situations that their fucking retarded owners put them into.
i'll be the first to admit that i have more compassion for animals than humans.

Animals fight on their own too. Fact. When they fight on their own, usually someone dies in the process. So you really don't have much ground to argue. I can however say this, when humans fight them, they atleast break them up before one of them is mangled and lifeless.
Whats more important, the life of an animal or that of a human? Bobby-d we already know where you stand. But I would bet that you're not a veggie eater? It would be different if you diddn't order that steak or cheeseburger when you got off work!Don't be a hypocrite. 11/2/2006 9:25:38 AM |
