As stated in our meeting tonight by himself.

said that after the year is over the athletics commission will again look into the past year and perhaps make changes as seen fit.

all students are invited to those meetings AFTER the football year is complete.

Stated that we have some of the least regulated restrictions in the state and ACC as well. To respect that aspect and respect the commissions proposal.

free thread.

The administration has systematically castrated the student body over the last 6 or 7 years.

Four hours is just enough time to get some burgers cooked. I guess if you people do a whole pig then you need more time.

^AND MY GOD YOU ARE A FUCKING TOOL.

At Wake Forest you can do friggin' keg stands in the student lot. The only thing the police care about is if you have glass.

well for one, there are a lot of our football games that WISH i couldn't remember.

and for two, if you honestly think alcohol was the sole cause of a rare and extremely isolated incident, you're a fucking moron. those dudes were on drugs, asshat, and they weren't even supposed to be there without tickets to the game.

"Aggies plan to continue bonfire tradition

11/01/2006

Associated Press

Texas A&M University students and alumni plan to once again build and light a huge bonfire off campus, reviving the traditional blaze once staged before every football game against archrival University of Texas.

The group plans to build a 45-foot-tall log stack near Hearne and light it Nov. 21, three days before the game. The on-campus tradition was canceled after the log stack toppled in 1999, killing 12 people.

But students and alumni have worked to revive the tradition off-campus since.

"This is a great tradition worth continuing," said student organizer Jack Shallock. "The bonfire we build is built by students and is a great event. It's good for the community and good for students and a tremendous teaching tool. It fosters camaraderie and community."

Last year students organized a bonfire off-campus in Brazos County, but that event didn't go as planned.

Brazos County was under a burn ban that prohibited outdoor fires because of the severe drought conditions, so the nine people who ignited the fire received citations. Also, the logs failed to ignite properly and never collapsed. Then, on New Year's Day, someone lit the bonfire despite the continued burn ban.

Organizers settled on this year's site because trees for the bonfire can be cut at the same location and the land offers parking.

Although he doesn't oppose the bonfire, Robertson County Judge Fred Elliott said he has concerns over safety. He expects underage drinking and arrests stemming from the event.

No alcohol will be allowed at the bonfire, organizers say. Sheriff's deputies will step up patrols on the night of the bonfire is lit, Elliott said.

"I just pray everyone will come out alive and safe," Elliott said.

Students began organizing off-campus bonfires in 2002, three years after the deadly collapse. Alumni also organized informal bonfires after 1999. "

see how capable administrations handle isolated freak incidents

I never said they did. I did however mention schools in our STATE which would include Appalachian. Therefore their inclusion was warranted and should be used in this conversation.

Pretty sure students dropped the ball with brent road and campouts for tickets with their behavior, but I wasn't around then. However, the administration got it wrong with tailgating. I think instead of going for a homerun, someone should suggest an extra hour to make it five hours after the season is complete since there were no reports of serious wrongdoing, and each subsequent year request an extra hour until it reaches a satisfactory level. I doubt the administration is just going to say unlimited tailgating after the season is complete so i think you'd have to work your way up.

you have time to drink at home. DRINK AT HOME PEOPLE. HAVE PARITES DRINK.

but gameday is gameday. we all need to be focusing on beating the other team instead of getting drunk. if we had decent fans who were half absorbant during the games we would be alot better.

^ thats right, drink at your place first and then drive to the tailgate, driving drunk is way better than the possibilty of another tailgate shooting.

haha its a university

the day someone doesnt drink in regards to being more knowledgeable of whats going on, i think thats going to never happen.

if u want to cheer and know whats happening, you wont drink.

if u still wanna cheer and have a good time and maybe not know exactly what play we are running then i think you will drink.

bottom line we wont get a change this year, but with YOUR opinions and all we can get some recommendations to the staff members, i agree adding it to five hours is PLENTY of time, 5 hours should be about the limit anyways, 6 would be fine as well but i dont see the problem with 5. point is that the staff NEEDS to respond to the needs and wants of the students and what we see fit.

that is all, so recommend something for us.

i'll let the coaches and team know they need to not be drunk at the games. after all, they're the ones who need to focus on beating the other teams. i'm there to scream my head off and have a good time.

and what in the fuck does "decent fans who were half absorbant" even mean? Even if you spelled absorbent right, it still doesnt make sense.

How do they enforce the 4 hour rule? Do they block the entrances to Trinity to prevent people from tailgating early? What if people want to go to Damon's to pre-game. How can the cops stop them from doing that?

we've put him in a head coaching spot for 6 seasons

if he doesnt live up to our standards why not point it out to him and say hey...we dont like what you are doing...

if its not broke why fix it?

ITS FUCKING BROKE SO WE NEED TO FIX SOMETHING

actually Duke took Nc State's place when coach K came for having the best fans and great coach. Jimmy V's thug motto drove Nc State into the ground.

many wolfpack fans became bluedevil fans and that is how coach K survived.

Boy am I glad.

You are not a college football fan.

My Dad has been graduated from USC (south carolina, no socal) since 1976 and he gets into town on Thursday or Friday for each and every home game. And he's getting there late compared to the biggest fans.

Tailgating takes more than 4 hours.
