Some of our people use webmail (Microsoft Outlook webmail) to access their work email when out of the office...this works for almost everyone...one of the guys can't use it on his particular ISP's connection which is Direcway Satellite/Hughes-Net (http://www.hughesnet.com)

He can connect to the webmail site and the login window pops up...he logs in successfully and appears to connect to the server...the main 'public' items and buttons come up, ie New Message button, Reply button, etc...but the list of folders and emails and the other 'private' items do not come up...just a perpetual 'Loading...' message

Direcway supposedly has compatibility issues with VPNs that use IPSec for the security protocol...could Exchange Server have some similar protocols that the satellite connection might have conflicts with? How can this be fixed? Note we use Exchange Server 2000 and our firewall at work is Kerio Winroute (http://www.kerio.com)

The guy who has the connection issues has even tried plugging in a laptop to his Hughes-Net router...he had the same problem...plug it into a Roadrunner router, or just plug in a cellular connectivity card and he's fine...any suggestions?

I'm going to guess it's a latency/timeout issue between Exchange and the ISP and packets are being dropped. I'm not familiar with Exchange on the server side, but my guess would be a setting somewhere (hopefully not hardcoded) you can adjust to increase the the timeout when a client contacts the server. You can probably also monitor your firewall (on the server side) to see what connections are being dropped from that client and how frequently.

Of course, this will probably take a bit of time. Cost/benefits trade-off stuff, bleh.

The connection isnt being dropped, its just not showing the private items...I'm thinking maybe I can use DoctorTCP to change the MTU but I cant really do that til I have access to the remote location this weekend
