I've used Adobe Audtion and it is pretty similar. It used to be called Cool Edit Pro.

what are you trying to do, anyway? Just Linear audio editing?

yeah, there's seriously a shitload of programs out there to do this shit
fruity loops, cakewalk, Acid (which is published by Sony now), Adobe Audition
for just fucking around, I'd try and find an old version of cool edit pro or Acid. I'm pretty familiar with both of those and they're both straightforward as hell. 11/3/2006 10:41:05 PM |

The actual Acid program will do this, but Acid is also a file format that you can find almost any genre of sample library in. Because it's so prevalent, other, cheaper programs like the basic Cakewalk sequencer will load Acid sample files directly into the sequencer tracks for playback and sound editing. 11/4/2006 2:47:26 AM |
