You've got The Boss's approval, so it's gonna happen, whatever it is. My question is simple: is this going to be a new message board, or is it going to be a better newbie tutorial/guide, or what?
Personally, I think that if you make a really good newbie guide, then a whole new message board for newbies shouldn't be necessary. Sure, I know that you'll always have people who don't want to read it, but whenever they post in a newbie-style, then it will be a piece of cake to stick a link back to the newbie guides page and that person will know to "go back to Newbieland n00b"

How about everyone NOT flame every new person that posts on here, even if the topic has been posted before!? The more people on here the better it is, and all you old guys run all the new posters off... 4/18/2002 10:24:59 PM |

You should make a fake newbieland section that only has a half page with fucked up html so when the n00bs go there, they will ask us for help and further show their n00bness. 4/19/2002 12:37:09 AM |

consider it a testing...if they cant handle what we throw at them you think you want them here? it not like there arent differences in opinions already...if they get scared off cause we say that its old and make fun of them, then i doubt they would last long in a full blown argument with even the stupidest people on here... 4/19/2002 8:48:41 AM |

Take your pick...
1 "A small exclusive group of friends or associates."
2 "To associate together in a clannish way; to act with others secretly to gain a desired end; to plot; -- used with together. "
3 "A narrow circle of persons associated by common interests or for the accomplishment of a common purpose; -- generally used in a bad sense. "
4 "an exclusive circle of people with a common purpose "
5 "Given a graph with nodes N, a clique C is a subset of N where every node in C is directly connected to every other node in C (i.e. C is totally connected), and C contains all such nodes (C is maximal). In other words, a clique contains all, and only, those nodes which are directly connected to all other nodes in the clique" 4/19/2002 11:34:47 AM |

6. refering to the groups of pro wrestlers in the WWF during the 90's consisting, at various times, of shawn micheals, kevin nash, scott hall, sean waltman, HHH (can't spell his last name), justin credible, etc... 4/19/2002 11:56:37 AM |

How about when a person first registers, it sets a flag so the first few times (or maybe just the first) they login, it takes them directly to the Posting Guidelines and/or the CrazyCode Guide. Then when they start off posting tons of errors of that nature they can get a well deserved flaming
j/k, but I think the "runonce" idea would help. 4/21/2002 2:58:10 PM |

i really like the idea of "newbieland," i know that i give new members a lot of hell, but that is what i caught in the beginning...however, if they had a place to go and learn how to use crazycode and how to edit posts (instead of posting 12 times in a row), i doubt i would give them half the shit that i do...
oh...and let the older members at least read it, even if we can't post...that way we know who has given it their best effort

just a very small example of the problem, it's very pervasive, every n00b has their moments where they just don't know what's going on, particularly if they just came to the site recently, some kind of newbieland/tutorial would probably be a good idea 4/24/2002 1:08:00 AM |
