"Chow down for N.C. St. job?

Tennessee: Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow is another assistant whose name is being churned in the rumor mill. Word is, if North Carolina State fires coach Chuck Amato, Chow could be in line to become the next coach of the Wolfpack. Chow was the offensive coordinator when the school was flying high a few years ago with Rivers as is prize pupil.

Chow would give the Wolfpack instant credibility. Trouble is, those who know Chow think he is the type of coach who listens, but is reluctant to take a head coaching job. His personality may make him more comfortable as an assistant.

Still the Titans coaching situation could get messy, prompting a move by Chow. The heated relationship between head coach Jeff Fisher and general manger Floyd Reese could come to a head. If Fisher goes, Chow also could move on.

There has been rampant speculation that Fisher and Chow wanted to draft quarterback Matt Leinart - whom Chow coached at USC - instead of Young, whom the Titans took at No. 3. But owner Bud Adams and Reese were in favor of Young. "

Get Lou back to kick the shit out of the players when they fuck up....get all the discipline straight, then let Cowher take over?

I can dig it

Chow may not have the personality for a head coach but it'd be pretty hard to turn it down if he wanted to come to Raleigh. If he comes as head coach, who he/we choose as our assistants will be very crucial for recruiting.

Chow is the best offensive mind when it comes to the college game. However, I'm not sure he has the skill set to manage a program. He wasn't particularly interested in recruiting and handling disciplinary issues, so I would hope he found an assistant head coach adept at this if he came.

thereforeeeeeeee we need to give him a try but yet still have someone on the sidelines that has had HC experience at another level...much like we are doing with Sidney.

gradually let him dabble in it, give him a CHANCE to be a HC, but dont let him completely immerse himself without some type of help.

I would take Norm Chow any day. You said he cna't manage a whole team. Hello who remembers Phillip Rivers and our Offense???? Well when Chow was here thats all he did was have a offense and it won us games. He has helped coach Rivers Linhert and other great QB's.

we want chow!, with him being such an offensive genius too... as a head coach he can assist the DC with schemes to stop opposing offenses as well, he just has never been in the position to do so

yea i think Norm has a chance to be decent as a HC an dI think that if he feels he is not doing a good job as a HC and that he should move back to OC somewhere else, that he would do so without hesitation and probably on his own judgment because he seems like that kind of guy...

id love to have him back as OC though no matter who we get.

Best possible scenario for NCSU:

Bill Cowher -Head Coach
Norm Chow-Offensive Coordinator
Chuck Amato-Defensive Coordinator

why would chuck amato take the job as a defensive coordinator at the school that just fired him? and why do people think chuck is a good defensive coach anyway, herring(sp?) was the one who made our defense good. i know the posts about that in this thread are just hypothetical but its been posted seriously in many other threads.

and we don't want lou he leaves everywhere with sanctions after he's done coaching and that makes it harder to hire a decent coach after.
