Suppose teams from the same conference finish 1-2-3 in the final BCS standings. What happens to that 3rd team?

Let's make it ridiculous and ask what happens if the top 5 are in the same conference. what happens?

Situation A) 1-2 national championship, 3 conference bcs game

Situation B) 1-2 national championship, 3 conference bcs game, 4-5 at large bids

I think thats right for B, but who cares since its impossible

^^^ no. i don't think more then 2 teams from a conference can go to a bcs game. i think this is why wisconsin can't go to a bcs game. mich and osu 1/2 wiscons 7 at 11-1 but not going to go to a bcs game.

i might be wrong though, the bcs is confusing as shit.

yeah its pretty shitty

wisconsin doesnt have much beef in my opinion

however...if arkansas beats florida and gets the automatic bid, LSU will likely be shit out of luck which is hard to believe

Usually this won't happen due to conference championship games. The teams that end up in the BCS games will usually be the teams that won the conference championship, then the next team. The only place you could ever really run into a problem is exactly like this year's Big Ten. They don't have a conference championship game, thus they have 2 teams at 11-1 (Wisc. and Mich.) and Ohio State the number 1 team.
