Damn you....that just depressed the shit out of me.
How the fuck did we lose those three games in a row. I remember TA demolishing two GT players at the same time in that game. Only to fumble later in that drive. I still think the collapse at the end of that year set us back a little. That Notre Dame bowl victory was nice and all...but an ACC championship would have been HUGE at that time.
Shit.... 11/26/2006 11:51:40 PM |

yea we wouldve gone to a BCS if we had one just one of those games.... most likely the orange bowl i think.... or the fiesta maybe? was it the next year that we lost to Ohio State then? sorry...my memory is blogged 11/26/2006 11:53:26 PM |

All three L's that year were winnable with the pack leading in the 4th quarter in 2 of the three, I think the rain killed us at UVA that year, coupled with a TA fumble

^^^^Yeah...we lost to Ohio State during Philip's senior year. We started off as ACC contenders but got spanked by Wake in the second game, which kind of deflated the Ohio State game. We went like 7-5 that year and destroyed Kansas in a bowl game.
Our offense was pretty money that year. I think Philip had slightly disappointing sophomore and junior years (for his standards), before really redeeming himself his senior year. Him and Tramain Hall were a ridiculous combination. We had two AMAZING games that year with Ohio State (triple OT) and FSU (OT). I made the road trips for both of those games and its something I'll never forgot.
WASTED OPPORTUNITIES......

before the GT game sean berton got hurt and was out the rest of the year. we had been using him as an H-back (think chris cooley) and his blocking was killing people. also, before the GT game, TA broke his wrist which meant A) he played with a cast for the GT and one or two other games and B) IMO this was the start of his fumble troubles.

Berton caught a pass in the gator bowl for a TD, no way he was out the whole year. Also, you might be thinking of chris colmer, not cooley

well the rest of the season, and no i was thinking of cooley. colmer was tackle for state, cooley is an h-back for the 'skins like berton was an h-back for state. 11/27/2006 12:01:49 AM |

can never get two good units at once. phil's senior year def was young and couldn't stop anyone. not to mention the t.a. and kiker factor. following year defense grows up to become best in the nation and offense is beyond abysmal. get a kicker who isn't horrible and then we lose our knack of blocking kicks.11/27/2006 12:12:27 AM |

that is the attitude we need. that swagger intimidates other teams ... what doesn't is having swagger and losing. that makes you look like a tool. if we'd have won ... the amount cocky we are would be a tremendous asset 11/27/2006 2:04:29 AM |

Its amazing we got all that hype from abc.

1. gt played outstanding but holt was inbounds on an int and ruled out of bounds. that play would have made the game different because we would have hat it at the gt 35 instead gt went on to score.
2.cotchery and ta were both out for the uva game. i remember them showing a list of 5 starters we had out for that game.
3.neither jco ta were 100% (well ta was almost never 100) ta gave this game away with a huge fumble.

I have some friends that believe we are still suffering from "The Sopranos curse"...that ever since that video, we havent really been at the same level we were prior to it. I dont really believe it, but I cant argue why its not true...I mean, it was the open for the Georgia Tech game that began the 3 game losing streak, and although our offense was pretty damn good Phils senior year, we didnt do anything THAT impressive other than maybe going to triple OT at Ohio State, but we still lost.
I dont need to recap the past 3 years. 11/27/2006 6:43:55 AM |

I remember the GT game where we stopped them on a 3rd or 4th down, but they had a false start and they converted on the next play. We would've won the game if it wasn't for their own penalty. 11/27/2006 7:41:51 AM |

That is exactly right. The drive should have been over but a false start gave them another play, which they converted into a 1st down and eventually a TD. Without that false start, we would have been 10-0. I was there and remember how shitty it felt leaving.11/27/2006 2:39:07 PM |
