Any of these role playing? I saw God of War (RPG?) & Dragon Quest VIII, and I've played Both of the X-Men Legends.
What are some other RPGs for Playstation 2 that are worth picking up that anyone might recommend? 11/29/2006 8:03:15 PM |

GOW is not an rpg. you can upgrade your weapons/magic with kill points, but thats where it about ends. it is strict action and a damn good bout of it. 11/29/2006 8:08:28 PM |

if you liked x-men legends you'd probably like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 11/29/2006 8:10:46 PM |

I believe X-men Legends is an action-rpg. If you want another one of those try:
Okami (great game) Champions of Norrath Champions: Return to Arms Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Baldur's Gate Kingdom Hearts I & II Justice League Heroes (7.6 at Gamespot) Dark Cloud 2
Other good RPGs:
Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy XII Valkyrie Profile Xenosaga II & III Disgaea 1 & 2
Like with any game release, you should browse reviews at Gamerankings.com and read up before you decide if something's your cup of tea. Some games are much more brain-intensive than others. For example, Disgaea supposedly has a steep learning curve.

^^ I did enjoy the X-men games. Best version of X-men in a long time, but Im more of a fan of the classic RPG. Is Baulders Gate like the PC version (obviously with better graphics, id imagine)?
I realized after Dragon Quest VIII that I preferred PCs that are't overly Japanimated. Did the FF series go that route, or do the PCs look more like Dungeon & Dragon type characters? 11/29/2006 9:15:37 PM |

Whereas I generally define RPG as BG/NWN trype games, I second the Dark Cloud series. Both were great and a lot of fun...DC2 was probably better because you didn't have the BS of weapons breaking and disappearing. 11/30/2006 11:32:33 AM |

If you're avoiding "Japanimated" PC's, then PS2 is probably not the best way to go for RPG's. Otherwise, I'd recommend Final Fantasy X and XII, Suikoden III and V, and Dragon Quest VIII. If you're into tactical combat, the Disgaea series is probably the best on the PS2: so much depth and replayability that even an OCD gamer would never muck their way through everything. 11/30/2006 12:18:46 PM |

Final Fantasy 12, Xenosaga, Dragon Warrior 8, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy X
I couldn't get into the Xenosaga Sequels and Suikoden. FFX-2 was forgettable. 11/30/2006 8:31:05 PM |

^ X-2 was not an rpg.
And I cant pass judgment on the Xenosaga series as I've never been able to get through Xenosaga 1 or even bothered to try to beat this boss battle I've been stuck at. To make matters worse, I've had Xenosaga 2 sitting in my shelf, unopened, for about a year now. 12/1/2006 1:15:55 AM |
