The first official ACC game of the year comes up on Sunday between NC State and Virginia. NC State will also be on their first road game of the year visiting the new John Paul Jones Arena, where they knocked off the then #10 Arizona by 3 in their first win of the season. Although, we will have to see how Virginia bounces back after the last second loss versus Purdue.

Engin Atsur is probably not playing, day-to-day but not likely for this game or West Virginia, but they seemed okay for awhile against Michigan although fatigue seems to be a factor, that or they give up on big leads.

Conventional wisdom says we'll have a hard time guarding their guards because they're small and quick but I hope Sid can see we'll have a size advantage on our end and make their guards defend, maybe posting up taller, longer Fells and let him create alone in the block. First road test for our kids, we'll see how they react in a hostile environment.

UVA didn't play well at all tonight against Purdue.

Their big men are still God-awful, Ben and Costner should be fine against Cain/Soroye/Mikafucker.

Guarding Singeltary and Reynolds is the key for us. We should stick to that zone.

If everybody is 'on' and we don't come out weak like last game, yeah there's potential. But this is their first road game and given their experience, a hostile crowd might shake them. But bottom line, like Sidney keeps saying, we absolutely have to bring our defensive game.

have a little more time to practice that zone defense in case we have to go into it if the legs start to go. could tell during the michigan game that they hadn't practiced it that much.

According to Gopack.com If Engin doesn't play then Grant moves to PG and Nieman starts at Forward. I really don't like Grant handling the ball that much but we really don't have a choice. It it cool to see Nieman start he's had a crazy journey to get to this point.

I just played this game vs. Virginia in College Hoops 2k7 and I was able to beat Virginia by limiting turnovers, boxing out, scoring more points than my opponents, and slowing the game down.

I recommend Sid takes notes.

I just played it on 2k7. I even benched Atsur the whole game and won by getting a small second half lead and playing strong defense in the second half running up the score a little more.

They attempted a lot of 3's and hardly ever went inside. I used our inside to dominate most of the 1st half. I dont think fatigue was a factor in the game because NCSU shot 70% in the final 10 minutes.

Id feel alot better about it if the old red rocket himself, Pete Gillen, were facing Sid on the sidelines..... UVa's new coach is a bit more intimidating...

^^ and yes Cain usually pulls some lucky offensive rebounds for layups+fouls on us, maybe Sid will have the answer Herb never had for Cain (who has a mexi-stache and looks like he wears wife beaters exclusively when off the court)...

How can you tell if it will be on in your area. The only FSN channel I get in NYC is FSNY, and I'd doubt that'd show this game. If its not on cable up here I need a heads up to go to the bar!

Check tvguide.com and put in your zip/cable provider. I get it on FSN Bay Area but it is on nationally on FCS Atlantic..

V generally the TVU players are from my local market (San Francisco). So if FSN is on there I'd guess it's Bay Area, which the game is on...

Went to tvguide.com, entered my zip code, and selected my cable company, and it showed up in the listings. Also, I sifted through Sunday's listings on FSN-Pittsburgh on my DVR and it showed up, so I selected to record it.
